Really enjoyed listening to him on CWR as I am on holiday in Menorca. Made some fantastic comments!

Couldn't make it today so popped the radio on. He was an absolute breath of fresh air. Passion and perfectly timed comments blocking out the usual bollocks about Nuneaton and the rugby etc with actual information about the game we are tuned in to listen to. Plus he didn't make me want to slice my neck open like the usual co commentator.

Agreed @hill83, I think he was actually pissing the commentator off

Wanted to talk about everything but CCFC, and Cattlin would interupt with "Here we go..."

He was spot on. It's probably in the job discription to keep us updated with the rest of the Warwickshire teams but I listen on sky blues player. I pay for the fucker, and I couldn't give a fucking shit if leamington have equalised against the dog & duck, especially if you are telling me whilst we are on the attack.

I hate the 5 minute delay on SBP. I also hate how the "CCFC" commentators get more excited about the opponents chances.

Didn't even realise there was a delay. Seems relatively close to bet365 updates to me which are almost instant.

Do you listen to CWR or SBP?

I find on SBP, William Hill updates as the ball crosses the line, then SBP Wall/Kieren Crowley updates, then SSN, then around 5 mins later the SBP audio catches up :(

SBP. To be fair it's rare I listen to it and I've sank a few beers today.

Chris Cattlin's pre match speech in the 87 lounge was very moving and at tiimes "Churchillian" with oodles of passion and drive - is clearly grateful for his time at CCFC and would make an ideal embassador for the club.

Well said Chris AND you were a terrific player for the club on and off the pitch.

Yeah, he was good. Lots of witty little quips, a good understanding of the game and a hugely evident passion for CCFC. I dare say he's a good after dinner speaker.

Watched his Sky Blue debut a 2-0 victory v Manchester United reigning champions and soon to be European champions put the great George Best in his pocket stayed for 9 years and I never seen him have a poor match. Listened to him co-commentary last year can't remember who against and he pulled no punches then about the state of the club, team or manager.

And one of the only players I can think of that had his own nickname. "Spider"

I remember that game, even though I was a kid. In my mind’s eye, I can see Georgie Best dribbling and being tackled by Chris Cattlin probably 5 yards from where I was standing. At Highfield Road in those days we saw some of football’s greatest ever stars at close quarters – how lucky can you get, and how unlikely does it seem now?

As you say “Spider” was ultra-reliable in defence, and would be at left back in my all-time City team, even ahead of Stuart Pearce.
