Looked like two nailed on Penalties in the first half both lunch tackles from behind on Kent.

Anybody have a clearer view than me that could clarify wether Referee right or not?

I think thats part of the problem with having small , nippy fast players ..i think refs just believe they are simply diving all the time , amazing the pen was given for the big man

it couldn't not be to be fair, it had happened a few times where he seemed to be too quick and get the ball away from the player but be held back.

First on in opening minutes was definitely a penalty. A trip by the player. Anywhere else on the pitch the ref would have given the foul. The second I felt he was already going down before he was caught. But yes he was caught. The Armstrong one for me was a bit of a dive. Yes he was impeded but was losing control of ball then he went over. The Fortune one for me was two guys wrestling for the ball. Glad it was given but would have been disappointed if it was given against us.
But compared to bury' last week.....

the one of the end of the box Kent should have probably been booed for he was half way down before the player even got there which probably didnt help his case on the next one which was a stone waller but the lino wouldn't commit and the ref had already got him down as a diver.

I think in the end when the Fortune one happened their defender was just trying to find out how far he could push the ref before he gave one lmao

the kent 2nd one was a stone waller
the one given was 2 - a bit of tussling, but when Fortune pulled back, the defender had hold of him - so also nailed on

the 1 in the 1st minute was 50/50 (and far more of a penalty than leon clarke's last week) - any other appeals were not

I thought the first one by the byline was nailed on, the second was never a pen (when Kent was cutting in just inside the 18 yard box), and I couldn't tell for the third whether the player got a touch in be ball. Kent does go down to easy though, and will quickly get himself a reputation.

Thought fortunes was rightly given a pen.

First I think Kent was unconvincing. Probably was a pen, but if you go down the way some footballers do now, the ref is less likely to give it.

Second for Kent, I think the lino bottled it.

Third that we won was the right call by the ref (dont think the lino gave it, and wouldnt surprise me if he missed it).

Funny isn't it, that sort of player will get a free kick for anything on 80% of the pitch! Gets to that penalty area... Nothing!

he will gain a reputation here for it and then when he gets back to Liverpool it won't matter as the refs will be giving him the penalties most times as he is back at a big club.

Considering our previous performances from the penalty spot I think TM should take note of Fortunes confidence and penalty taking ability as that was a perfect pen right in the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance even though he went the right way. Let Fortune take them if hes in the side

It was a good penalty and if in the side he should take them until he misses.

I was almost level with the first call, after about two minutes, and I thought it was a good tackle. Ok he came in from behind but took the ball cleanly.

There was another call on the edge of the box but in front of goal, which was just 50/50 out muscling.

The third call, to the right of the goal was a penalty, I think, on balance, but if you go down everytime you are tackled the ref. is not going to give you benefit of doubt.

The penalty given was a penalty as the defender prevented Reda from regaining possession after they both went down.

Couldn't see the the Armstrong call - too many bodies in the way.

Wasn't it fortune?

Reda?

You're not Clive Eakin are you?

Yesterday Reda played a long ball from deep in our own half and Eakin said it was a bad ball from Fortune.

Fortune was just outside the opposition penalty area.

People are also saying it was reda who put the through for armstrong to score his third when it was fortune.
one is about 5' 11" and the other 10' with flourescent boots

Although Reda was making a bizarre run up the right at the same time, which if you're generous might explain some confusion. And which tbf might have pulled their defence out of shape.

though we won 3-0 it could easily have been double that, & there's no getting away from the fact that Sarginson was/is another in the long line of piss poor refs that we've been plagued with this season

Watch it again. It's a brilliant tackle high up the pitch in same vein as defenders like Lucia and Luiz. Thrn a quick sensible pass to fortune rather than continue with his run. Led to the goal

Nothing bizarre about it

Sarginson is the same ref we had in that Norwich match in the snow who gave Gunnarsson a red and bought Grant Holt's diving all day. I don't think Kent helps himself with the refs because we does go down a bit easily. I thought the player won the ball on the first one tbf but the second one did look like a pen. The one on the edge of the box was a bit embarrassing.

Fair enough, I must have missed that in the excitement.

Tbf I meant he stopped his dribble and passed to fortune. You are right he continued his run down the right!

But we are better with him in team ao no need to change way he plays I say

Lino definitely flagged for the pen and the ref then gave it.

Whilst the officials were generally poor, I thought they were ten times better than the buffoons we had at Bury.

The 2nd 'pen' on Kent was madness it wasn't given.

Thought the one in the first min he made too much of probably was a penalty neither tackle the defender got a touch of the ball despite the corner being given for both!

My Shrewsbury mate who was In the away said had much the same opinion on both.

Officials are so so bad at this level they seem to toss a coin about decisions!
