Haven't had chance to see the highlights yet but reading the bbc report it sounds like fortune was pivotal in the game and FA make a good partnership.

They were great. Fortune works so haRd with closing down and winning ball back. He is good tehcnically. Strong enough to hold ball and can pick a pass. Once arms gets in a hood position he usually gets job done so to have a partner who makes the right pass must be great

Fortune was magnificent yesterday!
Absolute masterclass in how to play that role, so much so I stood to applaud him when subbed (something I probably do for a player once a season!)

Just think when he is fully match fit.. I said yesterday I was really impressed with him...I loved the little turn and pass for Armstrongs 1st goal

My West Brom supporting boss raves about Fortune says his work rate is unbelievable, voted player of the season at Albion, was regularly subbed after 60/70 minutes knackered to a standing ovation. His presence is going to be crucial with all those speedy kids. I think Armstrong will end up with pan full of goals if he stays fit.

Very promising partnership, as has been mentioned we now have so many options up front it is going to be a job keeping them all happy, and we still have Maddison to come back. Problems of the right kind for a change.

Heard "exactly" the same from a pal of mine at work who supports WBA. If he is always subbed at 70/75 then that is not necessarily a bad thing, you can change it up then depending on how the game is going... like for like with Tudgay or if you are chasing the game someone like JOB/Lameiras/Thomas.
For me Fortune could be pivotal in our away games. I suspect he won't be playing tomorrow!

we only had 3 loans starting on saturday - and maddison could slot in for kent
There is only really Armstrong who we are relying on - but if and when he goes back, we will need to replace him with quality

That's fine as a first 11, but where's the strength in depth?
And you have to say, without Armstrong, where would his goals have come from? He has been brilliant and the goals he has scored I don't think could have been scored by anyone else in our squad.
There is no doubt that Armstrong has made a hell of a difference and to a lesser extent, Murphy and Kent too.

why are we moaning that we have great loan players? if we mad messi on loan from barca would we really be posting about if he will be recalled? or where our long term planning is?

There's a difference between loans having an impact (you'd bloody hope so or why sign them) and us relying on loans though.
That team doesn't include the likes of RCC, Willis, Philips, Harries, Haynes, Thomas, Other Thomas. My point is that we have a good nucleus for L1 made into a great squad through use of the loan system.
If we are to go up this year then half the team will need replacing anyway such is the jump in quality. If not then anyone of quality will probably be sold, such is the game for a club of our status.
Armstrong would need replacing no doubt, but he's a position that, as we saw with Wilson, doesn't last long if they do well. We could conceivably go all the way to the Prem with a loaner top scorer and it wouldn't be an issue because they're the type of player that only lasts 2 seasons max at a club of our level.

Fair point although I have a horrible feeling I know who it will be. Even if we get promoted, it would be hard to find a buyer given we have no assets etc. Wolves are now up for sale and I don't see a big queue there and they are in a much better state than us.

Can't imagine Newcastle letting him go. If we do go up we might stand a chance of getting another year of him on loan. As you say he seems to like it here so it could work well all round.

60% if they keep TM to the current divisions rules. That is an extra 3m before the higher gates we would get. But there are different rules for the Championship so they could give him more. To me it would depend on how much of a chance they would give him to hit the jackpot for them.

Our turnover with increased attendances will be about £10.5m in the championship, sisu aren't going to throw extra money (we lost/spent c£6m per annum extra treading water). Our player budget will go up to about £6.5-7m tops.
