Wasps Rumour (4 Viewers)

I doubt the OP has actually heard anything but equally Idon't buy the 'it makes no sense for Wasps to kick us out line'.

Firstly the issue of Saturdays.

Despite claiming when they moved here they wouldn't play Saturdays so as not toimpact on CRFC and the fact that when they previously tried to move their gamesto Saturdays, while still in Wycombe, the fans objected and got the decisionreversed, they have again stated they prefer to play Saturdays and indeed areplaying several games on Saturdays this season.

FL rules require us to have primacy which could impact on them playing on theirpreferred day, depending on how cooperative the rugby authorities are whenarranging fixture lists, so this could become an issue.

We have got away with 2 games being moved so far for other events, I suspect asthey were already booked in but will the FL, or other teams, be happy to letthat situation keep occurring?

Now the issue of them needing our income.

We are believed to be paying in the region of £100K a year. We know from pastaccounts the profit on F&B isn't great. How does our being there impact ontheir ability to book other weekend events?

It’s quite possible that a single event could give them the same amount wegenerate in a season.

Therefore there is an argument to be made that they would be better off withoutus.

Can also be argued that it is in their interests for us not to be drawing a bigcrowd. If we get into the Championship and start drawing crowds of 20K plusthere is a good chance this will impact on their attendances. People only havea certain amount of disposable income and might have to choose between one orthe other. A successful football team would also likely mean more media focuson us rather than them. There would be benefits of course, the more successfulwe are the greater the value of naming rights for example.

Finally I don't think we can rely on them not kicking us out as it would be badPR. It would be very easy for them to shift the blame onto SISU. The majorityof our fan base would be more than willing to accept that.

But surely they'd know that shifting the blame would lead to an unwanted legal battle for them? If more comes out of the woodwork about CCC over the next 12 months, they wouldn't be keen on going down that route, surely?

They would have been aware of what was going on when they purchased the Ricoh. Can't imagine they completed the purchased without having lawyers making sure they were covered. We know there is a break clause in their favour and we know even if that isn't exercised we only have 2 further seasons on the current deal.

Heard some interesting news about cov city yesterday from a very good and reliable source.

Wasps don't want city at ricoh so there gonna put up the rent and if city refuse to pay wasps will boot them out.

City still have option of renting sixfields as Northampton struggling financially.

Cov and Northampton could become the 1st ever franchise club with names like Northampton sky blue being branded about.

We pay WASPs rent, they earn money from our games. We don't take precident over money spinners like the games festival.

Why would WASPs want us out?

Tell your reliable source not to take everything the Ricoh cleaners spout as gospel.

I asked the very same and it was to keep the players (Wasps) happy. They wish to play on a Saturday, hence they have now been advised if they dont like playing on a Sunday then they will need to find a new club.

The reason Wasps wanted to play on a Saturday is it gives them an extra day between matches, if they play Sunday they would play Sunday (Ricoh) and then Saturday (away) meaning the opposition gets an extra day rest as they probably played Saturday-Saturday. So I can see how this is the players choice
It sorta makes sense for the reasons you said and I know the previous season when they consulted their fans about changing the day the overwhelming majority was to keep it on Sunday and so it did, so this season they just changed it without consultation as they knew Sunday would come out on top again.

This is bullshit as usual. Wasps are not established enough in the city to cut us loose just yet but i do think that this will happen in the next 5-10 years. The moment the seats start changing colour is when Wasps are sending out the clear signal that it is their home and not ours.

Just for debate, i wont how many fans would go to Northampton if this did happen, of course this time it isnt SISU's fault!! :)

No offence taken Stupot, I was just repeating a rumour I had been told. Mainly to offer a counter to the opening post. Whether its true or not I dont know....

I definitely have better things to than do "make up" rumours, simply repeating what I was told by someone who knows a bit about owning football clubs.

Further to the conversation it was said WASPS don't make that much money from the club, Rent being their main income from us hence the fee increasing.

I don't think it's a case of them wanting us out, but they would prefer it if we wasn't there. When wasps put the rent up to over 1/2 million we will see what happens then,if city pay it then wasps will be stupid to turn it down.

They would still somehow manage to blame sisu while claiming how well the franchise is run.

Yeah. Doesn't he know that the fans, the supporters trust, Higgs, CCC, CET, David Conn, Wasps etc. all conspired against SISU and SISU did absolutely nothing to antagonise anyone ever.

No one has ever claimed they haven't. You give the impression that all the other parties have behaved above board. Knowing you, you probably do.

So you agree with LAST then and SISU deserve all the shit they get?

The first team on thr pitch should come before everything else.

Sisu along with ccc and mm, Richardson, Hoover et Al deserve everything they get for the way they have treated the club and fans.

Care to dispute any of that? Or is your hatred of Sisu more important?

Yep lets bang on at them about getting Mowbray in, and Armstrong he's shit too. They deserve crap for these desicions.

Or do you mean giving them shit for things they have done, not what they are currently doing?

(Throws line......)

Hold on. I thought fans weren't coming to the club as they have never finished in the top 6 in any division in their living memory.

So if this is achieved surely sisu in the majority view will be worshipped as the best owners the club has had?

That's right isn't it?

I don't think anyone is giving them shit for that. Doesn't mean that they don't deserve all the shit they get. They've earned it.

A bit like chopping of someone's arm and then giving them a band aid to make up for it.

Yep I agree, but at the moment they are trying to get things right, not wrong, and they also seem to have gagged Fisher which is an added bonus.
