This guy gets so much stick it's ridiculous.

People need to realise that he's not going to be consistently great for 90 minutes every week otherwise he wouldn't be playing in league 1.

I haven't checked the stats but he has the most assists in the squad by some distance, he must be on at least 5 or 6 I would have thought.

He's comfortably one of our best players.

Yep. Mowbray was right to leave him on because he can always do that. Same reason you don't pull Armstrong off even of he's barely touched the ball.

The stick he got was disgusting yesterday. Would take going back to Sixfields level crowds if it meant we could get rid of some of the dickheads.

I don't agree with the booing of players but my days his 'effort' in the first 45 minutes was pathetic. Players have bad games I can live with that but the lack of trying & I wouldn't even say he was hiding just not interested was insulting to watch.

Mowbray knows exactly what he's doing. We should have trust in our manager. He knows when to play him, when to bring him off and when to introduce him as a substitute.

The guy has bags of skill, but he will be hit and miss. If he played llike he can do every time he was on the pitch he wouldn't be here.

He's frustrating at times, but the last thing we should be doing is getting on his back.

Yep, my own view is encourage them on the day, but afterwards why not point out what they need to do to get better, otherwise well, what's the point of blind faith?

That said, there was always a place for a Moussa and Murphy is this season's Moussa. It is however fair to say that a player like Murphy wouldn't suddenly become motivated by being allowed to get away with not trying game after game.

I suspect he may not start Tuesday.

For me, for the 90 minutes of the game your job as a supporter is to be supportive.

Anyway, it's Mowbray not us whose job is to give feedback. If he's "allowed to get away with it" it's by him not us.

Indeed.

Nowt wrong with pointing out his flaws on here though. Same as Fleck really, really needs to start scoring some goals, Phillips needs to work on his defensive play etc. and yep even Armstrong, despite the goals, probably needs to be able to impose himself on games more regularly too if he wants his top flight place. They're not perfect, that's why they're with us, but it'd be nice if they became a little more perfect while with us.

That's not the same as the day itself though, when you encourage Phillips to get forward, encourage him if he makes a mistake, and let him know he can turn it around and try and give him the confidence in the game that he's got people behind him.

IIRC Murphy is only 20. Miles away from home. Still learning his trade. We have got him because he is not the finished article. We can't expect him to be MOTM all game every game. But he certainly gives us something we need.

He needs us to help him. Just like we need him to help us. And getting on his back all the time is not helping.

I don't think pens are included as assists. And technically Tudguy didn't score from the pen :p

But according to that link.

2x Peterborough
1x Chesterfield
1x Burton
1x Southend.

5 is still impressive (from 14 appearances), seems to remember our leading role assister got 5 across the whole season last year,

Yea, he also pretty much got an assist in the Fleetwood match as well but don't think it counts because Thomas didn't directly score

Mowbray said pretty much the same thing in his interview afterwards .. That he is only young , living on his own and like all wingers blows hot and cold

Yet Lameires gets far less stick and his 45 minute cameo was shambolic. He won't be playing Tuesday

Murphy is a young lad and is by no means the finished article. Yesterday was a perfect example of how brilliant he is for us and how frustrating he can be. Personally, I dont care if he looses the ball taking the full backs on, its refreshing to finally have players in our team who will dare to do that, something we've been bereft of for years. The frustration with Murphy in 1st half for me was his corners where i think 4/6 didnt make it past the first man, and his effort when not in possession to get in to a challenge.
He's one of our most important players and given time with Mowbray coaching him, sure he will become more more consistent.

He really was average in the first half. Wouldn't criticise him for his lack of skill certainly for this lack of effort and chasing back . As paying customers I think we are entitled to get a little disgruntled at players that don't give their best . Players that turn up for half a game don't get you promoted . But he is a young man and will perhaps learn . That being said abuse and booing is out of order

Lameiras was hardly shambolic in the first half, Fortune and Murphy in the first half were shambolic though.

Agree with the OP. It's clear from pretty much every game he's p,aged this season that Murphy comes into his own in the final third of a game when people are tiring. However, what he is good at for the whole game is moving the team up the pitch and putting the opposition the back foot. yes, he often gets tackled / runs down blind alleys in the first half but he takes the pressure off our defence and tires their defence out in the process. Our supporters really have a lot to learn about how to read the game and support the team. Negativity spreads and people repeat each other, so if one person shouts out mindlessly other people internalise it and it leads to vilification.

Personally, I don't agree with booing/jeering individuals during the match. I'm not against booing the team collectively i.e. HT. As fans we still portray our dissatisfaction, without destroying the confidence of individuals.

Then again, I don't agree with cheering opposition players when they score again us. Even if they are Coventry "legends", maybe I'm not in touch with those real (one game a season) supporters.
