Simply not good enough.

The fact that the strongest part of his game is supposed to be his attacking play yet Mowbray decided a 34 year old centre back would be more effective going forwards second half says it all.

Amazing that many on here wanted him to start the season ahead of Willis.

We need defensive reinforcements asap!

Yep and add Connor Thomas to that list as well!

Time for these lads to make a career elsewhere they've not kicked on or improved especially CT.

Fear the same of Haynes.

I was one who thought he would do well this season and make right back his spot, how wrong I was he clearly doesn't have the mentality or temperament to make it.

In saying that though, most of us agreed that Willis was no right back and much better suited to the centre back position.

What did Thomas do wrong?

Not a lot, the bloke behind me was bitching about him all game. Their were worst performers out there.

was at the game today...so much better 2nd half. much improved 2nd half was all over them shame about inexperienced strikers. so much better with rickets right back. Conor Thomas and Phillips out of their depth.

Half the problem he didn't do enough to do much wrong, hides too much.

Next please.

I'd agree with that. His biggest fault is he is too passive. Which is a shame because he undoubtedly has ability.

Too many players that would just about cut it in the Conference

Behave.

"Hides"? What does that mean?

He's not a tough tackling central mid if that's what you mean.

I thought considering how long he's been out and the standard of the game he did OK today. Certainly wouldn't single him out. Same for Lameiras.

So what's his role!? Doesn't add anything positive to the team? Can pass the ball 5 yards sideways well.

I've been waiting for years for someone to tell me what he brings to the side yet to find out.

Someone described him perfect on Twitter earlier "he's like a cat with 9 CCFC lives", absolutely perfect way to describe him. Utter dross.

He's not utter dross, tone down the hyperbole. To quote Tony Mowbray "He’s a very talented young guy" with "power and pace"

He's a tidy box to box midfielder who has a good range of passing and a bit of height. I'm not sure what you want him to do? I agree that he suffers from being neither one nor the other, but in a passing side he's got a part to play.

But no, I'm sure "a bloke on Twitter" knows best.

100 games in now any chance he'll show the fans this "talent".

Is he box to box though? I rarely see him go forward and you can probably count the number of shots he's had in his career on your hands?

Does he have a good range of passing? Sure he may pick one good pass every 10 games but how many assists does he have in his career?

There's two types of central midfielders.

Attacking ones and defensive ones. Can anyone honestly say they would class him as either?

hes easily good enough hes learning hes a young player with a fantastic attitude, get off his back

conor thomas too, in the the right shape he is decent the bloke is down on his luck so the cov mongs put the boot in

He doesn't get involved, he doesn't break up play, he routinely gives the ball away, passes rarely find anyone in a blue shirt. He's not a youngster any more. He's played plenty of football. His game isn't improving and he doesn't add anything to the team. I would get rid.

All personal opinion, of course.

What did Thomas do wrong?

No one isn't saying he a nice bloke or anything. I don't think any player, manager or owner is above criticism. Particularly when those who dare to criticise are paying his salary. Your attitude is insulting.

Yep, especially Thomas who has gone from a decent prospect, to a non-entity. Also, Cian Harries is a name we shouldn't forget, youth-wise - he's coming along nicely.

Probably time for them both to move on. Btw how was it not a foul on Phillips for their first goal?

Yeah both not good enough and both have been found out along with Finch that they are not good enough to be playing for us currently. If it wasn't for out paper thin squad i think it's safe to say neither would be near our first team squad.

Well me and Tony Mowbray think he can offer something. ;)

People are always so quick to get rid of players. You all saw Morris, that's the sort of player who would replace him.

Same with Philips, fair enough if he was 3rd choice but hes not. We put out 11 of the 12 fit players on Saturday, if some of you had your way wed only have had 9 players.

Someone showed me a clip from a West Han fans forum when Frank lampard was 17 and a couple of fans were having a go at Redknapp for playing him over Scott Canham because Scotty just needs a chance and Lampard is crap and will never come to anything. Nice reminder that football managers tend to know a lot better than fans when it comes to player ability.

Phillips might be worth sending out on loan. I guess you're relying on the coaching staff to assess if he can improve.

Thomas I think needs to move on, as much for his sake as anything else. He's made nearly 100 starts for us now and for several seasons we've been waiting for him to kick on and become the player we all thought he would be when Liverpool were after him but there doesn't seem to have been any improvement.
