Turner - different class (4 Viewers)

If his contract is up at the end of the season and he is a free agent would give us a good shout in getting him full time and no fee. Also are the rules different with players playing in other countries as Wales is, can't they find a club before the season ends ?

Perfect player for a first season in the Championship if we could, but I'm sure Cardiff can offer him more cash.

We have very little chance of signing Big Ben if we get promoted. There are so many other clubs in that league who would appeal to him more and offer him wages similar to what he is already on.

The only appeal of us would be that we are close to his home in Birmingham.

Would we prefer Big Ben to Reda?

Maybe if we offered Reda as part exchange, along with a few handsome sheep, a vintage coal miner's helmet and a lorry-load of steroids (for the party-going, gym-humping yoof team), they may be tempted...

If I had a mil', I'd fecking well buy him for us.

The average wage in the championship last year was just under 500k annually.

Will that include youngsters on peanuts in professional contracts?

If both teams are in the championship we could compete wages wise, promotion is said to be worth £50 mil they are on way down we are on way up.

Sounds like he's not allowed to play 90mins at the moment which could be a bit dodgy if it's tight at Bradford and we have to bring him off after an hour and resuffle the back four

Listening to his interview he said that if he had played 90 minutes then the decision if he could play on Tuesday was down to Cardiff. Cardiff can't possibly dictate that he must be subbed at 60-70 minutes... if they did no manager would agree to those terms. However the clause about the next game being down to them is fair enough under the circumstances.

It was a good move by TM to bring him off to keep his options open, and also show Cardiff that he has the best interests of their player at heart. Another reason why so many other clubs trust him with their players.

wouldnt it be a statement of intent if the club found the money to buy him back, cardiff are a joke and we had our pants pulled down by the sheep shaggers 750k was a fucking disgrace

It looks like a lot of players are coming to Coventry due to what TM is doing, rather than just for the money. Sure money will be a factor, but given he is out of contract and has family in the area that would probably buy us a small discount on the top offer he would receive elsewhere.

This is exactly the type of player we should be looking to add to the squad in the event we are fortunate enough to get promoted. You would also hope that some of the players like Murphy, Kent, Armstrong etc could either be persuaded to sign or get another loan deal to carry on the job they are doing. But if they don't I suspect that a similar calibre of loan player will be available to us.

I've got a lot of time of Turner, he has come on massively sInce his debut here. Anyone remember that cup game v West Ham when his mistake led to their winner?

He always looked like an accident waiting to happen; I think it was Boothroyd who saw his potential and made him a first team regular?

Personally I'm just going to appreciate him while he is with us.

No, he always looked like a fine young player, but he made a couple of high-profile mistakes and some fans crucified him for it. It's happened a few times over the years - the most recent example being Stokes (although he’s not at the same level IMO).

Happening to Phillips too... but tbf someone needs to tell him we are not playing basketball...

Ive said this before it ill say it again, if i was armstrong or kent id be pushing my parent club to stay, surely if you have the option of going to the championship and playing a few mid table bore draws or challenhing for the league championshiop in league 1- having helped a club to the summit for half the season- youd rather stay and finish the job & potentially have a league winners medal and league winners and golden boot on your cv! Come on arma & kent lets do this!!!

But Cardiff are riddled with debt according to chairman Fisher we are cash flow positive

only because we are not in the Championship and not paying Championship wages.

I really don't want to think about this right now. But it'll be interesting to see how our "self sustaining" plan plans out in the Championship. How many clubs at that level are self sustaining without parachute payments?
