    Summer transfer window 2024

There’s quite a bit out there about him being unhappy at lack of opportunities (basically 4th choice) at Caen despite a good record in the b team & youth internationals. Looks like he would’ve joined Mechelen permanently but they wouldn’t stump up the cash so here we are.

    Is this Highfield Rd?

Phew. I’m glad it’s Millwall as it puts the photo at 1977 latest. I was horrified at the thought of that bloke wearing flares that massive as late as 1979. You could get your head kicked in for a lot less round the Den at that time.

Binks could be ok as a CDM. Touch, passing, tackling… all good. What I’d be worried about is the positioning and intensity required. Haven’t seen that from Binks. He still needs to learn where to be as a CB. Also, CB is less intense when you’re usually a unit of 4 up against 3 forwards...

We could re-sign Godden. And if we also got Nuno Espirito Santo in as manager, we could boast the holy trinity.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I live in the South East and there’s grammar schools round here. It’s just a circus. The grammars are de facto private schools in some cases. People will move heaven and earth to get their kids in. One example is a guy who rented a flat for a year, simply to have an address in catchment for...

Kitching has appeared at LB at times in his career (esp in his early days at Barnsley IIRC). Not sure I’d pick him over Bidwell all things being equal. But defo an option. Wide players are getting bigger and it’s not unusual to see players over 6ft at full back these days.

    Oxford player ratings

MVE & Wright were brilliant. Rudoni also had too much for them first half. Torp and Eccles were ok. Few iffy moments (esp Torp standing off them for their second). Quiet one from Simms who put a shift in. He was unlucky to be pulled back for what looked an ok shoulder challenge. He was getting...

Quite possibly. Those injuries and getting chucked under the bus by Deeney can’t be helping. A reminder how hard it is not only to make it as a pro but also to stay in the game.

Yes quite different now. Their manager hadn’t bedded in at that time and James Beadle, probably their standout player at the time, got recalled by Brighton to be sent out on loan to Sheff Wed. We were in better form then too.

Lati and JDS are in the same boat for me. They were recruited with a back 5 in mind. Outside that system I just don’t think they fit in apart from as back up and in the case of JDS, as an impact sub. I struggle to see Lati anywhere. He’s fairly good as a CB in a back 3 but I’m not at all...

The ideal is like, say, Callum Doyle who had a season in L1 with Sunderland before stepping up to the champ with us as a loanee.

Now imagine that spoken their farmer accent and it sounds even more ridiculous. i actually think Oxford will be ok this season but this bloke’s already drunk “6 more points” than anyone else.

Was Roland Nilsson our best ever Right Back ?

Really tough choice. I’d just about go for Borrows because he was a total legend and a beacon of quality when we didn’t always have much. We had him throughout his prime and into a long Indian summer. Unfortunately having contemporaries like Stevens, Parker and Dixon didn’t help him...

I doubt that Kitching and Binks will play together. Not saying it definitely couldn’t work but there’s very few successful pairings of 2 left footed CBs working in the pro-game.

Still not brilliant but a win’s a win. Thought Kitching did well. Looked sharper. Right place right time (mostly) and when there was something on, some good forward passes.

Thomas has played ok apart from two really suicidal passes. Torp looked ok for a bit but then has looked like he doesn’t want the ball at times. Palmer has been Palmer. Lati has looked ok. Overall better than Stoke but still flat.

    Transfer Rumour Bobby Clark

Sheaf and Eccles, fit and on form, have enough aggression to have dealt with that Stoke midfield. I see what Robins did as a gamble that failed. He thought it would be ok and that Allen’s energy and Torp’s passing would be enough. We all saw the result of that. We need a player who can drop...

    Elon Musk

Indeed. It reminds me of the quote from the president of the Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts. He was talking about plans to remove thousands of neutral Federal government officials and install partisan replacements chosen by the Republicans (in the event they win) as part of Project 2025...
