Football as a game doesn't lend itself particularly well to cold scientific statistics, unlike, say American Football and Cricket. Far too many variables to adequately measure any players or teams expected anything with any degree of accuracy. There is far too much correlation equals causation...

People like stats like xG in order not have an opinion, stats are useful in many ways but xG is quite literally pointless unless the EFL are going to start awarding them based on those rather than aG.

xG isn't a football opinion, it's a meaningless stat to make people who can't manage a football opinion themselves think that it gives them some insight. It doesn't.
