Good planning by putting Bidwell in against BNC. No doubt Bidwell has marked him many times in training and knows his game.

This formation works, it reminds me of when Brian Borrows used to overlap wide with the winger (ie with MVE overlapping with Saka) but if MVE carries on like this I’d like to see him somehow play as wing back with Binks as a forward running centre back a 3 at the back with Cal as AM.

I agree that he’s getting some stick, but when he stops playing like an antelope with wind then that might stop.

Godden’s all round play has been good. Pressing, moving, heading, passing. Last season he was poor on the whole. Maybe injured then.

Haji Wright is quick but can’t stay onside or pass and move. So disappointing. Simms IMHO is a better player.

Short people should take corners, big players and those who can strike a ball from the edge of the box should not. Full backs should avoid taking corners from their wrong side (so to speak) to reduce getting caught on the break. So today, why not Tats taking right corners and Allen left...

We seem to have a big hole in centre mid atm.

Good pressing the keeper by Godden to force a poor kick and turn over.

Poor Dabo. He must know how much that kick cost us.

He was asked at a recorded fans forum: “Are you staying” “If we are in the Premier league” was his reply. He strikes me as the kind of bloke to give a straight answer and stick to it. He probably missed out the “as long as you pay me bundles” bit but yes, I think he would have if the money...

    Wilson or Collins?

Who on earth was the Trialist GK on the bench for the u21’s? Are we short of keepers in the youth ranks or something? Any ideas anyone?

    How many clubs?

Walker and Waghorn were apparently high earners so getting them off the wage bill alone would have been good for the playing budget. Having 3 keepers on first team money (Wilson recently a new contract which we can safely guess is decent money) is obviously pretty poor financial behaviour...

    Recruitment has been shocking

Looks to me to be more of a “cut in and drive at middle” player whereas MR seems to want him to go outside and cross.

I suppose the silver lining is that the sell-on might balance the Wright outlay. Not totally wrighting (!) him off but Gyok could easily have done his ACL or (unlikely) flopped and the chance of getting big money coming in from anywhere reduced. It’s not inconceivable that someone gets a Gyok...

    Recruitment has been shocking

“Common sense” signings: Latibeaudiere JDS (not expensive, calculated risk, not old) So-so: Thomas right age but not really played at a decent level much. Tats, right age, international, but relegated and maybe lightweight for the Champ Simms, right age, proven at level but could cost...

    Recruitment has been shocking

The obvious example is Latibeaudiere played in this division (proven) and 23 years old (potential to improve and sell on). Did not cost millions. Kitching? Wright? That’s my point.
