The 'One season fluke' reality facing most Championship clubs

Just a thought, everyone says Sky Sports ruined football, but for us, itv Sport ruined it.

From what i've read, it's also the reason we ran out of money for Arena 2000. If we had stayed at HR we might have absorbed the itv collapse but both together screwed us and we are only just recovering now. Any other year would have been better for us, but the cost of Arena 2000 plus relegation...

    furlough

Just a thought, but from the way SW fans have reacted saying it could stop transfers, could WE keep our players on Furlough whilst trying to sign new players?

    Yes we are

That's the big IF, they have been late paying players already. Fans think the reason players won't accept it (not sure how they can turn it down), is it would stop them from being able to move on to other teams. Not sure this is correct as other posters have made good points. Can only think that...

100% but if he ends up not being good enough he made more from Everton than he ever would have here. If he could have been good enough then he has waisted his early career and may never get it back. It's the gamble you take.

    furlough

I believe we did, as MR said he could not get the players together and train them as that would stop the payments. He said he was keeping track on them as they downloaded an app that the club could follow to see who trained and how much they did, O'Hare was always top of this. Think they have...

We have to beat Forest next season, they did the double on us and I never hear the end of it. Even when I tell them we gave you 6 points and still finished above you. A few Cov fans out here but loads of Forest fans :(

Think I remember reading that in June it goes from 80% to 70% and in July down to 60%

We were just unlucky, when we went down itv Sports collapsed so we lost the tv deal, If we had gone down 2 or 3 years later we would have loved the payments and probably gone straight back up and never imagined a cold day at Yeovil on a Wednesday night.

If Cov Rugby got promoted to the Premiership they would have to spend loads even to hope to compete. They could never do that without parachute payments. Players won't come for 1 season, they want 3 years minimum (unless older) and you can't give them that without a backup. Same for...

Up to a maximum of 2.5K per month. So if O'Hare is on 10K per week as said on here then the club still has to pay 37.5K plus national insurance payments and pension contributions per month to pay him 100% of his wages. 2.5K might be per week, I'm not sure, it's hard enough trying to work out...

    furlough

OK, but 2.5k max I think so if Sheff Wed have players on 10-30k per week, then that is still a lot the employer still has to pay plus national insurance payments and pension contributions. So for high earners Furlough is just an inconvenience but for the rest of us a saviour. Think I've sussed...

Ah Ok, thought I read they had to top it up to the real wage amount.

I thought on Furlough the employer has to pay the rest of the wages plus national insurance payments and pension contributions.

He is 25 next month so still time for him to turn things around, but I think he will have to drop down to non-league first to realize what he has lost. Like many players before him, too much ability and money but and no brain or desire. A few kicks in non-league whilst on crap pay will make him...

Need someone to want him, Hearts gave him a chance in the Scottish Championship and dropped him after a few games. Hearts fans started off saying he had something and liked him, after a few games they wanted him gone. If he can't make it at a Scottish Championship team who had the title sorted...
