New surgeon seemed to do a good job on his other one so fingers crossed!

This is the worry with Jones too... Really common to do the medial meniscus and medial collateral ligament alongside ACL injuries, although Jones's sounded like a less traumatic mechanism of injury so hopefully his is cleaner

Full ACL rehab protocol is usually 9-12 months + match fitness time

    O’Hare’s goal

This is what sets him apart for me... I bet there are plenty of creative players of his ability in the championship who go unnoticed in most games because they dont have enough aggression and bravery to make things happen. Its so rare for a player in his position to have both.

As @better days says the surgeon will have a pretty accurate idea of prognosis once he sees the extent of the damage - I personally doubt its a bad one with other injuries alongside if what's reported about him hardly noticing is true. Post-op its pretty impossible to tell how successful the...

This is part of the reasoning behind the conservative treatment approach! The hamstrings can essentially do the job of the ACL if trained correctly and if he isn't actually displaying functional deficits Id be really reluctant to put him through the surgery again personally!

In Italy they usually use a post-ACL injury return to play protocol that lasts like 4 months and they get constant re-injuries... Its really weird

Definitely a difference between someone like that and a player who has one specific problem like Jodi. Don't recall him having other injury problems so IF someone can sort his ACLs out for him he stands a good chance!

Can't remember but didn't Owen end up with all sorts of injuries?

I would certainly try it! It would mean less time out than a full post-ACL surgical protocol (4-6 months compared to 9-12 months off the top of my head). Could prove to be a complete waste of time and would be risky but his surgical history makes it worth a try imo

One of the problems is you need to take tissue from elsewhere to remodel into a new ACL every time you do surgery - first port of call is usually from the knee cap as that is the most reliable, if that fails they usually use a hamstring tendon... No idea what they try after that but each site...

Its a topic with a lot of grey area and not as many solid answers as we would like in the medical field... but here are a few thoughts presented in a pretty scatty manner: Unfortunately there isn't too much concrete evidence on ACL injuries to pinpoint exactly why we are getting so many. I...

Slightly off topic but imo the league cup needs to be binned off and a chamions league place awarded to the winner of the FA cup. Having two cup competitions only detracts from the prestigeof each, and Im sick of cup games feeling like a chore rather than an inexplicable magic aura

    Started to develop atheritis

Ahhhhhhh I see! Yeah its roughly 50% likely to lead to some degree of osteoarthritis at some point then... Just to clarify osteoarthritis is what people usually refer to as just 'arthritis' - I should have made that clearer. But yeah as I say with any kind of arthritis its usually worst in...

    Started to develop atheritis

For mild to moderate osteoarthritis general exercise is the way forward, but for severe osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis you need a slightly more considered exercise approach alongside pharmacalogical interventions 👍

Im a physio and this is the best online resource I have recently seen for arthritis: https://www.howardluksmd.com/knee/arthritis-knee/exercise-improves-knee-arthritis-pain/ Are you sure its arthritis though? One of the key characteristics of osteoarthritis is morning pain and stiffness, so if...

Yeah Dan Laff - he's a third year scholar who has been out for a long time, largely with a knee injury, hence why this was his first 90 mins in a couple of years. He's a Toni Kroos style CM whos intelligence and technical ability is really highly thought of at the academy so would be great to...
