    The humble cheese & pickle....

But since we've both been working from home these past 7 months, the variety and quality of lunches has gone off the scale compared to what i used to make myself to take to work. And we get to eat together most days, which is an added bonus.

    The humble cheese & pickle....

Home cooked ham with boiled-but-not-pickled beetroot is a great sandwich. And i have to disagree about the choice of crisps with a cheese sarnie - for me, it has to be salt and vinegar, every time! Oh and the missus did us a fish finger sarnie last week, with a bit of ketchup. Amazing!!!

    Health and safety Jobs

I would say it is relatively easy to get a job in H&S with a couple of decent qualifications behind you (we struggle to find good people when we have vacancies - most applicants are chancers or no-hopers!). Doing NEBOSH Construction is a good call, but consider a Fire qualification too - there...

Best TV shows or movies you can recommend

I've enjoyed The Fall on Netflix. Glad to hear Ratched is worth watching - i've been unsure whether to give it a go ...

No, @shmmeee ONE lockdown procedure (that of working from home if you can) When it comes to the collective set of measures, manual labourers comply less well than average on every one. And ethnicity of White (noting the reference point of BAME) comply better with all of them. (Oh, and Remainers...

    Cloned Plates

If you have an iPhone, it records it by default. I didn't know this until i looked yesterday after i saw Wingy's post. Could be useful, but bugger me it shows up what a sad life i have led in the past two months. If anyone is having an affair, turn this function off in Settings/Privacy/Location...

    Things that annoy you

Jesus what a loser! I don't know at what stage kids' TV changed to being "silly and shouty". I'm 56, so grew up mainly in the 70s, when it was quite sensible (Blue Peter, Animal Magic and Rentaghost), albeit targetted at children. But i suspect Timmy "Twat" Mallett, then Dick & Head (sorry...

    DIYers - Concrete internal walls

Depending on what you want to do with the ex-fireplace, i reckon dot-and-dabbing that wall sounds like the best way to overcome the difference in levels. Did a bit of dot-and-dabbing just this week (to repair a patch that the previous had cut out to mount a TV flush to the wall surface). First...

    Things that annoy you

I don't know what i clicked on in a previous existence, but i am getting fucking annoyed by my Youtube homepage being invaded randomly by shitty TikTok "Dance Challenge" videos (aka girls looking like they are having some kind of fit!) and vacuous women (or "influencers", i suppose) peddling...

I happen to believe that one of the lessons from Lockdown 1 is that it *worked* in bringing cases/hospital admissions/deaths DOWN. The drive to save the economy meant that it was eased too fast, too soon, which is causing this second spike (in many areas). But MUCH of that is due to household...

That's what i am asking my epidemiology colleagues to clarify the latest data. But it appears that while antibody (B-cell) immunity is quite short-lived, the more persistent T-cells stick around for some time. The data on the repeat infections are not particularly convincing in my view, nor that...

    Coventry University - Covidiots.

As far as i understand it, you need to have an active infection to be actively shedding the virus to pass on to others. What is one of the many unknowns at the moment (and i have asked for colleagues on the latest available -credible- data on this) is to what extent someone can pass it on if...

Let them all get it, get over it, be immune to it (probably, at least for a few months), then not pose a risk to others who would suffer more severe disease. The problem with that is the law, which says you and your household (see my earlier post in this thread) are required to self-isolate if...

Not sure i'd use the term "duty", but i posted this on a Twitter thread at the weekend, and it seemed to gain some traction ... " I think there is an argument for letting it run rife through the entire student population so they gain whatever immunity (e.g. T-cells) they can, and can return...
