    Friday nights tipple

Drop of red for us. First since Saturday. Partly to eke out the dwindling stocks, as we haven't been on a wine run to Calais since before Christmas, and it's looking a bit bleak! Will be on the first boat across the channel when we're allowed!!

We've been dry since Sunday (inclusive), but enjoying a drop of the red tonight.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

People only take any notice of Tranmere because they're "owned" by Mark Palios, former FA Chief Exec (and first muppet to fall for the "charms" of Faria Alam, who later went on to have an affair with Sven!). Although, credit to him, he played in midfield for Tranmere for 9 years and 3 years at...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Lost the fewest games (3) of ANY English league side apart from Liverpool. That is quite a stat! The reason Pompey would want unweighted PPG is that their away PPG is abysmal!!! Would the final points table be calculated on PPG (weighted or not) over 44 games? Doubtful - but some great quiz...

Most irritating things during the pandemic

I may have ranted about this before, but some twat in our village now thinks it is his right, nay DUTY, to broadcast music (but mainly himself) over his PA in the street for an HOUR every week after the 5 minute clap! Simply to get Facebook 'likes' I don't clap because it's not the way i do...

    Ann Lucas New Lord Mayor

You have got to be fucking kidding!

What's everyone watching while on 'lockdown'?

Probably good until it outstayed its welcome (as many things do) - i wouldn't recommend beyond Series 4, IIRC.

Maybe unpopular, but i agree. Fine, give him an MBE or a fucking knighthood if you want, but a military honour such as honorary colonel-in-chief should be given for a military endeavour.

Sounds really good - i expect you all learnt something new, too.

    Sunday roasts ranked.

Plenty of recipes out there for vegan Yorkies, Grendel. A vegan sausage wouldn't be high on my list of Sunday roasts, but it's nice to know everyone's requirements are taken care of these days. Vegan Yorkshire puddings

In similar vein, people who appoint themselves as Master of Ceremonies! Every Thursday since "the clap" started (has anything thought of an exit strategy for that, by the way??) some twat on an estate about 1/4 mile away from us has decided to get his PA system out and start playing music. This...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

If the season ends now, i don't see that they will have any play-offs. Will either be top 2 only (however the positions are decided, but corrected PPG seems fairest) or top 3. Which of those are chosen probably depends on which way the EFL/FA think the Court for Arbitration for Sport will see it...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Sorry if this has been suggested in the intervening 6 pages, but i think "Points per game champions" would work to the "Your ground's too big for you" song!

    Broad Lane / A45 Crash / Death

They assumed that the Gibbet Hill Road/Kenilworth Road crossroads being turned into a roundabout (with no signals) would ease the congestion round the university, but it's still backed up to the main entrance every day (except at the moment, obvs!). It's just too much traffic!

    Any electrical experts?

One little job i've been doing while on lockdown is to put perspex "finger-plates" round the sockets and switches in the kitchen. I chose a light grey transparent one, to match the stone-coloured paintwork. Finishes it off nicely ...

    Any electrical experts?

I'm gradually changing my switches and sockets to brushed steel from ghastly outdated brass with rope-effect detail .. Slight problem i'm finding is that they only put 3/4 inch back boxes in the walls, so something like an LED dimmer struggles to fit. Really looking forward to doing a 3-gang...

What's everyone watching while on 'lockdown'?

Been catching up on Celebrity "Stand up to cancer" Bake Off on c4. Some episodes have been soooo funny. But last night's had Melanie Sykes on. What a lovely woman she is (despite being a strange shade of mahogany) - 47 years old, and as beautiful as when she was in the first Boddington's advert...

    Sunday roasts ranked.

All good - except for having two kinds of potato. Gotta be roasties for me, unless I'm having the first lift of the new potatoes from my garden, in which case i'll have those boiled with a bit of mint in the water, then buttered. Would probably have a leg of spring lamb to add to the seasonal feel.

The routine in our house is to ensure there is plenty of veg left over on Sundays, then on Mondays we have the cold meat, with a heap of sauteed potatoes and all the re-fried veg, with a pile of home-made tomato chutley. It's one of the highlights of our week! Missus says "if we'd been told as...
