OK, so PHE have revised their advice, and it may affect some of you if you have been on holiday to Asia recently. "UK Chief Medical Officers are advising anyone who has travelled to the UK from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau...

    Another day, another murder

I really REALLY do not understand why a copper can't require someone to turn out their pockets at any time, in any situation. Section 60 order? Fuck off!

    Coronavirus

That seems to be the only news story on it currently. Fuelled by the need to fill column-inches or radio minutes. The headline mortality rate is unlikely to be anywhere near the 2% total deaths currently, who are the most susceptible to severe infection. It also appears to be proving LESS easy...

What happened to 51 and 52??

    Professional attire

I like that approach - sounds like a good company to work for. If i know i have a high-level committee meeting to attend, i will dress smarter that day than if i am just office-bound, or if i'm going to be climbing around in plant rooms/labs. Or working from home!

    Professional attire

It'd be interesting to know if anyone "had a word" if i chose to use more casual dress at work. I think they'd have a hard job on their hands given what the women wear. I think the Tracy Brabin thing calls into question her judgement and thought process in choosing to wear what she did - but no...

    Professional attire

Some of you have probably seen the stuff in the media about the MP Tracy Brabin and her decision to wear a very "off-the-shoulder" top in Parliament the other day. Twitter has gone into meltdown about it, on both sides of the argument: those saying she looks like a tart, slapper, etc, and those...

    Coronavirus

Well that would be a tragedy. But we can be sure that there are still only two cases confirmed in the UK, and long may that continue. But if China aren't going to be able to control the number of cases, we are going to have to stop any travel from there very soon.

    IKEA Closing in Coventry

That was my point - retail is NOT culture (necessarily). I agree it's not good to promote the "city centre dying on its arse" look ...

    IKEA Closing in Coventry

I heard the "vox pops" on the awful Adudu programme tyhis morning too - people think it's either a fucking cafe or a children's play area, not an actual shop where you have to actually BUY something to make it a going concern! The Council gave IKEA the land with a 999 year lease (sound at all...

    IKEA Closing in Coventry

Warwick has 6000 staff and 27000 students. They can't ALL be getting on a train every weekend, surely?! It is rumoured that the relationship between the late Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya and the Tata Motors board enticed them to buy JLR, when the latter could actually have gone bust!

    IKEA Closing in Coventry

Jim O'Boyle was on CWR after 5 saying that the council had never sold or leased land to the universities so that they could build student accommodation. And there are conditions on the lease for the Ikea site which would prevent this from happening.

Do you think they would want to introduce a venue that would put their pals up the Foleshill Road out of business??

    IKEA Closing in Coventry

As my missus asked, "Is it a condition of their planning consent that if they leave they have to take the blue and yellow eyesore cladding with them?" We go there occasionally, and it is a place to get some quite good stuff for not a great deal of money, and with some fantastically ridiculous...
