Match Thread Coventry City at Colchester United Match Thread - Tuesday 13th Feb

Well I hope you're in the corporate hospitality area, as such a wealthy and well-connected individual would clearly have the option of a prawn sandwich box rather than hanging out in the ordinary seating with the plebs...

Match Thread Coventry City at Colchester United Match Thread - Tuesday 13th Feb

Those of you you are going, keep your eyes open for Mr Dale Evans who has announced he's going to this one. It's his local-ish game, so why not.... He'll be the one with the learjet parked in the car park with Ivanka Trump waiting inside just wearing some Marmite buttered crumpets. In case...

Not so much of a free and frank discussion after all then, if there are consequences for saying what you think.

I just don't think we can realistically EXPECT to be getting promoted this season. It's obviously the goal and our key target but if we fall short but are competitive all season, that's fair enough.

Please do tell me Beavon is not under contract until 2019

My point was that if we used his wage and squad place on an effective player, we'd be doing better. He's a passenger.

We got shot of Kwame so that shows it can be done. And the 'scoring lots in the U23s' remark is all too reminiscent of Cody's (or was it ROD's?) 'scoring lots in training' praise. Ominous, really, and irrelevant. And hey, I can raise any topic i like, this is a full and frank fiscussipn.

I'd ask why a squad place and wage were being invested in Beavon who appears to add nothing. Another player on his salary could be another option for us an attacking asset, not just a passenger.

Don't agree. Every new season is a new chance.

Sign this lad up - Mascot on Saturday

Yes - seems to have more enthusiasm than most of our fans/players, albeit that's not hard!

    "Coventry City, who are they?"

I was going to mention the Gillingham 1-0 too. It was a great night with 27k in the ground (should have been more but for ticketing issues!) but the next week we had 10k for a bog standard home game against Yeovil.

    "Coventry City, who are they?"

The adults in our team seem to have done that themselves on Saturday!

But overall we are in touching distance - we are not having a crisis, just 2 bad results in a row. No need to panic, we're a decent competitive team and we may well finish in the play-offs. My main criteria this season is that we were competitive. Even if we do not end up going up this season...

A realist in this time of gloom

We know we've fallen down the leagues, there's nothing new about that. Just because we might not go up this time, doesn't mean we can't strengthen for the future. By the way, we do not have a poor away record, in case you we're being ironic. We've won 5 away already. I've sat through many...

A realist in this time of gloom

The Ts and Cs in any investment vehicle will tell you "past performance is not necessarily a reliable indicator or guarantor of future performance", and quite right too. We've definitely got enough in the squad to get promoted and we're there or thereabouts at present. I don't know what...

    "Coventry City, who are they?"

I liked the piece overall, as usual, but I didn't like the implied criticism of annoying kids at games. Yes, it can be frustrating but all kids have to start turning up sometime, otherwise we won't have a fanbase in years to come. The whole point of the day was to get loads of kids into the...

But that's just the point. In any other business you would be trusted to learn from your mistakes. It's called investment in people. If we become stronger as a club long term then it will be worth it. We might as well take a chance on that approach, since the 'fire the manager when things start...
