Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Friday 23rd Feb

I was understating it. Robins' most noticeable human characteristic is self discipline and it is glaringly obvious to me that he dislikes players going off piste.

Looking increasingly tough. Probably not as many contenders as last year but only one place. Sunderland to drop away even under new management - just not good enough. Then there were four - City, Preston, Hull and Norwich. We have midfield injuries, but I bet the others have missing players...

Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Friday 23rd Feb

I doubt if Robins did the actual negotiating in the past. Boddy / SISU I'd have thought. Too time consuming and a lot of business detail required. He is now surrounded by a more powerful team including King himself, and maybe is less the 'King of the Castle' - that might not be totally to his...

    Callum O'Hare Replacement

Does he like him or is all we have? I caught the highlights of Millwall last year and twice he rampaged up the centre to lay off to Vik. Where has that player gone? He is more disciplined now, but less dynamic. If you are thinking Automatics then Palmer is OK as a squad player - and finding...

    Callum O'Hare Replacement

There has been so much evidence so far that Wright is half the player as a central striker than if he is on the left. Anyway surely Simms for Striker?

    Callum O'Hare Replacement

It only makes sense if he is CoH's replacement. Wright is very expensive and good on the left. Saka is clearly top man on the right. Rotating three of these makes little sense to me. He must be in the first team, but so must Wright and Saka.

Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Friday 23rd Feb

I was thinking about this. O'Brien was pants from the start. Burge, whom he inherited was ok for L2, but not L1. Marosi ok for L1 but not Championship. Moore is not up to snuff. Wilson was protected by one of the best back three's in the history of the Club. Collins is a marginal upgrade on...

Match Thread Coventry City - Preston North End FC Match Thread - Friday 23rd Feb

    1. Uppermost in Preston's mind will be not losing, because if they do they will be 5 pts adrift of 6th. 2. No Sheaf no Torp (I assume) means City will lack that bit of creativity 3. Therefore a tough, scrappy game with many howls of frustration on here. 4. As keepers don't really need rotation...

Big Vik - Nearly had a mare with google !

Sort of related, Went to our local (Portuguese owned) chip shop. Their TV had the football on, and I could see that one of the the teams was Sporting Lisbon. Ho I thought, might just see Big Vik. Got talking to the owner (big Sporting Lisbon fan), as we talked - penalty - up steps Vik and...

Mark Robins is just so Coventry. You could see him on the concourse at a match and he would totally fit in. Black puffa jacket etc, none of the dandy dan stuff.

It is more that his presence means Wright can go on the left, and Simms does provide the long ball knock down option which Godden most definitely does not. Pragmatism really

For the opposite reason that this year is tough, next year may be slightly easier. All three relegated clubs last year were well established clubs and look to be he ones going back up. WBA and all of us are playing for the scraps. The likely relegated clubs this year will be the three promoted...

Match Thread Plymouth (A)- Wednesday 14th Feb

There has been nothing in the last 6-7 years of Robins to suggest he likes that sort of stuff. He is strictly discipline - you can see the way they follow strict instructions in certain situations and ironically it is often when they do the discipline stuff that pisses off people on here on...

That is a backwards argument if ever there was one. He made changes because we were losing - we then won - so lets go back to the team that was losing - because as we were chasing the game the changes don't really count. He wanted more physical presence in the midfield, and Lati provided that...

You obviously didn't spot his several attempts at playing left wing... rather badly

Match Thread Plymouth (A)- Wednesday 14th Feb

I suspect fans want to rotate far more than managers, particularly at this level. The only area we have the squad strength to do it is in defence and Kitching is back from his enforced rotation anyway So I want/expect a full strength team as we need 3 points from this one and it is not...

It's so bizarre, it's exactly what Robins did on Sunday that led to the turn around, but hey ho

I wonder if Binks is positionally disciplined enough for Robins? He wanders all around the place (even more than Thomas).

Home fans in South Stand v Preston - Trial Confirmed

I buy my ticket for a game relatively late compared with most on here. My daughters want to go if they are up from London that weekend, maybe one of them's partner. But all I can get is single tickets, so it's just me. Meanwhile my mate who is in a similar predicament is somewhere else in the...
