Ffs. This is an awful attitude. Player who came to us on a free, gave good service, we tried to sell for a profit, got badly injured, returned to fitness, and left *the same way he arrived* as his contract ran out. I wish he hadn’t joined a team I really dislike but he hasn’t done anything...

This is all true but within 8 months of leaving us he was starting as centre forward for his country. That would never have happened if he was in League One and he regards it as the pinnacle of his career.

He tripled his wages, went on loan to his childhood club, got to play for his country and then a few more loans at clubs of various sizes. He moved on to play in California before returning to Scotland and now Ireland to see out his career. He’s not regretted any of it tbh.

Tbf the interview w Sakamoto published today by the club states that he *did* break three bones in his back. That sounds pretty serious to me and explains why the club didn’t confirm or deny any detail about his injury. It would have occurred to most people that his career might be touch and go
