Match Thread ⚽️ Coventry City vs West Bromwich Albion Match Thread - Saturday 10th Sep

It's not really about lack of respect. It's once again the government failing to read the room. People and businesses are suffering due to inflation, prices hikes in fuel, gas and electric, yet they seem to think it's OK to effectively guilt trip sporting bodies and clubs into postponing...

Sorry edited, one home game - Middlesbrough is Oct 1st.

    Fixtures wise we're fucked

I'm more concerned about the fact that this is yet another month that the club hasn't received any ticketing/F&B/parking income. One home fixture in two months. There's also the WC break coming up in November.

Think there needs to be some pragmatism here. Lots of people within sport that are freelance that rely on this income. Fans have also made plans and forked out to attend fixtures. Pubs and businesses within the local economy will also suffer. Selfishly, but the club really can't afford to...

I think you're massively oversimplifying it personally. It's certainly not improbable that Robins/Badlan could facilitate a competitive re-build, but I'm finding it difficult to see it as a total positive. From your estimations alone the club would likely need over at least 12 new signings -...

The sale of Hyam wouldn't have plugged the shortfall this season at all. The club will likely look to January to attempt to leverage a significant sale/s.

Yeah this is what people are seemingly forgetting. Building an entire new squad will be an incredibly challenging and expensive ordeal, and there's still the matter of operational costs to cover and the EFL loan to consider.

While that's true, they won't, in equal stead you have to wonder whether the club could even afford to put them on new contracts anyway. O'Hare and Hamer's contracts are already apparently unsustainable and even with Hyam now gone wages will likely still be in or around 100% of turnover.

    And breathe

I'd imagine the club are gambling on the form of the individual players continuing from last season and will look to sell one or more in January, which traditionally is a sellers market. It'll offer them the last chance to really leverage their true value and take advantage of the disparity of...

To be honest Blackpool have done well to get that. Last year of his contract and they're really in no position to be letting it run down.

    Championship 22-23

Josh Bowler heading to Forest for a little over £4m plus add-ons and are likely to loan him out to Olympiacos for the season.

Could mean their takeover is fairly close to completion.

Mark Robins is responsible for Hyam being sold

Kane is 29 in a couple of weeks and his form last season hardly suggests he'll have a dramatic turnaround. If it weren't for his injury I'd imagine he would've already been moved on by now.

I'd imagine the 300% increase in wages might change his mind on that one.

Blackpool. I'd be surprised if Bowler didn't go today as well.

Mark Robins is responsible for Hyam being sold

It's not necessarily even poor recruitment, although granted there have been some poor acquisitions in recent years, but rather terrible utilisation of the budget and moving away from one of the club's fundamental objectives - to identify suitable targets to develop and be sold on for profit to...

Mark Robins is responsible for Hyam being sold

Maybe not. But the January window is traditionally a sellers market and the club will inevitably be relying on that. It's a desperate strategy really.

At a guess I'd imagine the club thought there would be some leeway as while Heracles were in the Eredivisie presumably Rente would've had enough points to qualify for a GBE.
