    Wages freed

That's correct. I reckon with an average gate of 12k we can afford to pay a squad of 25 players, 2k a week on average. We won't be allowed to exceed the 65% without being given a transfer embargo, so it's irrelevant to talk about SISU increasing the budget for players wages unless the fans...

    memories of highfield road

Selling a spare ticket I had for the Liverpool home game in 1992 to a Scouser who then had to witness us batter them 5 - 1. To be fair to the guy he was very magnanimous in defeat :D. Mick Quinn scored his 8th goal in 5 games a scoring run that's only just been equalled by the guy at...

    Clarke-Harris

I suspect wage demands came into play, which we can't/won't pay with League 1 pay restrictions we have to comply with.

    Stuart Beavon!!

That's the point I'm making. The rule in League 1 is 65% of turnover can be spent on wages or a transfer embargo is imposed. I don't believe for one moment that we are compliant, even with the cost cutting undertaken to date.

    Stuart Beavon!!

At the risk of repeating myself, the club can only spend 65% of it's turnover on player's wages next season. if anything the wage bill will need to reduce further as our turnover is now based almost exclusively on ticket sales. SISU or any other owner have to comply with this !

    Lee Carsley promoted

I think the advantage of Carsley over Rioch is that he's been there and done it at the highest level and can impart this knowledge to the players. I just hope we're not grooming him' only for him to go elsewhere and become successful. In terms of Rioch, his skillset seems to be in...

    Lee Carsley promoted

I don't read it that way. Rioch seems more than happy to stay in the background and gains great satisfaction from seeing Academey lads get into the 1st team.

    Stuart Beavon!!

Even if we wanted to (and SISU were willing) we can't spend that amount of money in League 1. Under FFP we are restricted to paying 65% of turnover as wages and players costing £1.8m will demand high wages. By my calculations our squad will have to average 2k per week to comply with this...

    Fishers meeting with Sisu

There is one key fact everyone needs to remember. In league 1 we can only spend 65% of our turnover on players wages. So SISU or new owners have to comply or .... you guessed it ........ a transfer embargo is imposed !

Okay, suppose Sisu's lot do cough up a bit in terms of funding for players

Okay, suppose Sisu's lot do cough up a bit in terms of funding for players

Just looked into this further and the fair play rules in League 1 are based on a salary cap of 65% of turnover for next season, otherwise a transfer embargo is imposed. Basing my calculations on gate receipts alone (I accept there is other commercial revenue) and an average attendance of 12k...

Okay, suppose Sisu's lot do cough up a bit in terms of funding for players

What's not clear to me is even if SISU have the money to spend are they able to do it within the constraints of the League 1 fair play rules, which I believe are already in place ? Any spending they authorise will be within the turnover they've estimated for League 1 and will predominantly be...

The championship era - most memorable quotes

We may have had some realism from the fans and dealt with the situation the club is in much sooner, instead of demanding an instant return and paying ridiculous money for players like Lee Hughes. Instead we're in the last chance saloon facing oblivion.

    Thorn speaks...

“We’ll have a lot of supporters going down there and we want to give them something back because they will have been hurting as well" “On a professional front we owe it to West Ham to put in a performance but more than anything we owe it to ourselves and the fans" So bloody predictable !

    18th most successful Prem team

http://www.talksport.co.uk/magazine/features/120426/all-time-premier-league-table-top-20-clubs-past-20-years-170665? Leicester shitty nowhere to be seen. In fact we're still the 2nd placed Midlands team. Hope we can get back sooner rather than later.

    The hype has started

Surely there is no one left who is gullible enough to buy a season ticket based on these 'promises'. If you're a loyal supporter who wants to buy one, fair enough, but for goodness sake don't do it because your expecting an exciting team full of new signings.

    The hype has started

http://www.ccfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10269~2750266,00.html? Sorry guys, this won't work again. By the time the embargo is lifted these targets will have gone elsewhere or we'll make derogatory offers to the clubs/players in question and the usual excuses will be used.

    Thorn speaks...

We all know, that it will now take Fisher at least 2 months to get the budget signed off if at all, by which time any of Thorn's targets will have gone elsewhere. We've seen it too many times to think otherwise.
