    New number one needed

Sadly I doubt MR will bring in a new #1 keeper. He’s a stubborn guy and it would be embarrassing to ask for another keeper (ahead of someone just brought in on a 3 year contract to do that). Especially after being quite open about the lack of squad depth re outfield players. I hope I’m...

    New number one needed

The guy just cost us a really important game, has been repeatedly weak and dodgy and has got worse if anything. I doubt defenders have any confidence in him defending a corner or coming off his line to help the defence or dealing with a back pass. A weak indecisive keeper just drains confidence.

    Doug on CWR

Doug and his backers remain a bit of a mystery. I think we know they haven’t the inclination or probably funds to invest, speculate. So if we don’t get any further Gok money I think it will probably be a fairly low key summer of recruitment, certainly in terms of £££ quality signings. Just...

    New number one needed

I’m not sure you can coach aggression or the absolute will to keep a striker out even if it hurts you. I think we’ve seen enough of Collins and we’ve had enough fannying around. We need a much better and assertive keeper to help settle the whole defence down.

Right at the start he suggested that. Whether he did, somehow accounted separately from other club funds, and how much is another matter.

    Doug on CWR

Doug has been quite a lucky owner so far inheriting a large windfall on Gok, Hamer sales. This is where it will get tougher, unless he gets another Gok windfall. Will he put his hand in his own pockets a bit to speculate on building success and gates? and we could do without a complete end of...

    Doug on CWR

How do you know he’s invested his own money in the training ground? And how much was invested anyhows?

The striker reacts to how much aggression the keeper is showing. If you think you’re going to get damaged by a keeper willing to do anything to protect his goal you back off.

The top priority is a new keeper. We’ve been fannying around too long with nervous, indecisive, weak kneed types who give the defence zero confidence. We want a big, aggressive , confident fooker who can command the box, come off his line and shout at defenders doing stupid things. It won’t...

That’s the vague stuff. We need 2 or 3 quality first team players to challenge and that will increase the squad size. The question is specially who do they replace?

It’s easy to be vague about increasing the squad size and replacing COH. The difficult bit is being specific about how we improve midfield and the defence. Who needs dropping for hopefully better quality we can bring in?

We’ve gone from a solid defensive team with lots of clean sheets to a defensive calamity waiting to happen. Got to be top priority. Starting with a keeper.

I think Godden and Kelly are real pros who will put a good shift in, although obv they are rusty.

    MR profile

You don’t get the impression he’s personally that ambitious or wants to put himself in a spotlight subject to huge stress. Seems happy to stay under the radar and work at slowly improving things while no doubt taking a solid salary and having a good private life. I suspect he’d only move if...

    Callum O'Hare

A young lad with an exciting move to Spain if the rumours are true. Maybe a bit more money. Hard to turn down that life experience.

The problem will be keeping momentum once the tiredness clicks in. We might start ok but once there’s a lull we might wind down quite a lot. Need Palmer to be on it to provide a spark.

    Callum O'Hare

I think people underestimate how good COH is in the final third. Quick feet and brain to beat a man a slide a little damaging pass in. Not that many have that skill. He adds something different to break up our predictability. We’ll miss him quite a lot.
