Obviously.
We don't need any "change in their potential" though. Most of our players have shown the potential to be good at this level, they just need to perform that way consistently.
Their start will be key though. I really don’t see an any manager surviving a poor first month or two given the circumstances. That’s why I’m ok with Lampard because he has a few things going for him that might help him start well.
Yeah, hiring some random foreigner to manage in one of the most grueling leagues with it's notoriously tough winter schedule coming up and an already furious fanbase on his back, that is a recipe for guaranteed success right there!
Abraham, James, Hudson-Odoi, Christensen etc.
Your arguments on this are weird. Of course Lampard won't look good when you discount half the players for some random arbitrary reasons.
It's not about "kids waiting in the wings"?
We've got plenty of young players with some experience who we need to kick on to the next level (Dovin, Thomas, Binks, Eccles, Torp, Rudoni, Simms etc.). That's what Lampard has done elsewhere.
Why?
I think there was a genuine process, just King has obviously always had Lampard front and centre in his head (him confirming he was in the running was extremely odd).
I reckon Bloomfield would have jumped at any chance of the job, Wycombe is a dead end really, their long term ceiling is...
