7 points from 9? 4 games multipled by 3 points per game = 12. Norwich are our bogey team as well.

They will bounce back I’m sure. Lost to Preston who are now managed by Heckingbottom. First game in charge and he leads them to a win. Good manager for this level.

    Passive

Well said mate. I think we are all crying out for some passion and aggression to go for the ball, win 50/50 challenges and just basically work hard as a team. It requires everyone to do that, but some are too passive, lacking energy or motivation to do it. That leads to all the disjointed play...

    Victor Torp

I hope a new midfielder comes in. As for Torp fighting for the shirt, I don’t know if he will. Seems too lazy, is very slow, lacks aggression and awareness. Occasionally does a few good things when motivated, but largely anonymous. Palmer is the same although thankfully was motivated enough to...

Torp and Allen are not starters. Maybe impact subs. That’s about it. We need to find a midfield general who can attack, defend, spray passes about. Until we do, we have to somehow bridge the glaring midfield gap with the people we have. Obviously Sheaf’s absence exacerbates the problem and we...

I don’t recall, but we’ve historically been very slow starters for sure.

I hope you’re right. Performance over position at this stage is important although playing great and losing every week would also be bad for morale. Fine lines.

We needed a stoppage time goal to beat Oxford after dominating the match. We theoretically could have only had 2 points by now and be in 18th place. We cannot afford another slow start and expect to make a late dash to the playoffs. Consistentcy is key and that can only be achieved through...

MR also sat on the bench and didn’t stand in the technical area to bark orders or make signals as he is wont to do. Not sure if he was sluggish as well.

Watford and Sunderland are definitely dark horses for promotion. Both teams that pundits didn’t fancy. Our players (like Torp, Allen, Eccles etc) need to stop believing the hype and start performing.

Burnley look shit today. Will be surprised if they get anything from this match. Totally nullified.

Match Thread Bristol City (A) 24th August 12:30 KO

We were so lucky to get a point. They bossed the first half and were so close on several occasions in the second half to getting a second goal and denied either by Dovin or MVE’s last ditch defending. Gave away the ball far too cheaply and had no midfield presence yet again. Such a glaring...

    Defending set pieces

Set pieces have always been our Achilles heel. Cannot defend them and cannot score from them (especially not after Hamer left).

All that will be fixed after signing 5 more strikers this coming week 😂

Well okay, but clearly no energy in our play which is what I’m getting at.

Agree. Performances have been poor especially away from home. If we played great but dropped points then there’s something to hang your hat onto.

MR said players looked sluggish. That’s a very troubling statement after a week’s rest. We even have sleep therapist. Are we going back to the tired excuse again? That first half was pathetic and the second half was only marginally better.

True. We don’t press enough. Johanssen really didn’t need to show up for that match. They could have left the goal empty and we wouldn’t have scored.

Sunderland 1-0 up against Burnley despite losing Clarke. Playing well despite having a new manager. Good press and playing as a unit, comfortable in and out of possession. What I was most disappointed with today was our performance. Been a recurrent theme.

Things I learned from this game: 1) Refs continue to be shite. Their goal should not have been allowed as their player on the ground was clearly impeding Dovin. 2) Need a midfielder signed in this window pronto!! 3) Torp can fuck off. Eccles played better in the second half after Palmer came...
