    24/25 changes?

So we spend £2 million on a keeper last summer instead - who do you send home out of Sakamoto or Bobby Thomas?

    We NEED to appeal that.

No chance of controversy or corruption allegations here!

    24/25 changes?

Which of the other new signings would you do without instead? He won’t come cheap. Collins is perfectly capable - you don’t need a top goalkeeper to compete in this division, throwing resources at one is pointless if your outfield squad isn’t up to scratch.

    We NEED to appeal that.

And your foolproof definition of “clearly wrong” is what? VAR will not stop its operators from making mistakes, and the world will not stop turning when referees do fuck up. All we’re arguing about is who the various man-children online should be directing their anger towards when these...

    We NEED to appeal that.

And we never heard of a VAR controversy ever again… Listen to yourself.

    We NEED to appeal that.

I assume you don’t have the same issue with goal-line technology, even though that’s not generally available until later in the competition? The problem, as you point out, is that while goal-line technology actually solves the problem it was invented to fix, VAR doesn’t. The former allows us to...

    We NEED to appeal that.

There’s no issue with certain FA Cup games having different levels of technology available at different levels of the tournament - that’s just a reality of the football pyramid, so long as you’re playing by the same rules it’s fine. By saying that VAR should be used always or not at all, you’re...

    24/25 changes?

    Collins/Wilson MVE/Burroughs Thomas/Lati/veteran CB Kitching/Binks Bidwell/Dasilva Sheaf/veteran CM Eccles/Torp/Allen Marquee AM/Palmer Sakamoto/loanee winger Wright/EMC Simms/Young striker/Tavares That’s 24 players, and six new signings, three of whom I’d expect to be significant...

    Get....

You simply don’t need a good keeper to succeed in this division. If we had £2 million left in the transfer kitty, I’d spend it on a striker or midfielder over a new keeper every single time, even if they weren’t guaranteed first choice.

Match Thread Coventry City v Manchester United - FA Cup Semi-Final

Slightly worried that I have decades more games ahead of me, and it won’t ever get better than that. I wasn’t around for 87. There will be titles, cup runs, promotions I’m sure. Will there be a last-minute 4-3 against Man United at Wembley, after being 3-0 down with 20 to play? That might be...

    VAR needs an overhaul

Unfortunately for you, if you support Mark Robins’ Coventry side, you soon will be.

Get VAR in the fucking bin

It’s absolutely mad to spend this much energy on trying to Zapruder pictures of O’Hare’s boot based on amateur pictures from the United end, or going full Karen mode and demanding to see the EFL manager. (Which is why I think VAR is shit btw - can’t we just go back to getting angry with the ref?)

    What's the obsession with Lati?

People use this phrase as something of an insult, but a player who fits that description is clearly very useful to a team with a small squad like ours. Unless you’re going to spend money on two new players to replace him, he’s going to see a lot of minutes.

Whether you see it as an overpay or not (I personally do), the market has been set. There are always bargains out there to be found, but I think the odds of signing a young, English, Championship-ready LCB for less than £2 million are extremely small.

What counts as too high a fee? If the going rate for a starting LCB in the Chanpionship is £4.5 million then why are we balking on an English kid who’s two years younger and already does some things better than our starter?

The FA Cup (Scrapping Replays and shit VAR decisions)

Would be just as likely to kill off the competition for good The current setup isn’t sustainable but I’m not sure the EFL clubs have the power or the wherewithal to unilaterally stand up to the Premier League without suffering a lot of casualties in the process

    Wembley and the London Marathon

    VAR needs an overhaul

I actually have an even more foolproof idea for avoiding VAR mistakes…

    VAR needs an overhaul

But none of these decisions are actually “pretty obvious”, or “common sense”, or “very simple really”, are they? They’re complex and incredibly fast decisions being made in real time by humans, that are impossible to decide without someone disagreeing and getting upset. Even with slomo, replays...
