Watching the first couple of games it’s clear how much we missed Saka at the end of last year. Also, you have to say congrats to the scouting/recruitment unit at the time we signed Wright, Simms, Sakamoto and Van Ewijk. All summer 23 additions.
His pace gets him out of bother when his positional sense defensively is off. But he’s such an athlete he’s just everywhere. Throw into the mix his relationship with Saka and our right side is phenomenal.
Wright was fantastic against Oxford. After a slow start he was just as good last year. He is, along with Ewijk and Sheaf a player who would be the first name on every championship teamsheet
If we’d have drawn 2-2 I’d still have been happy with that. Attacking wise we were brilliant to watch and that was a step up on the Yok and Hamer days. Oxford got 2 weird goals. We got two excellent and 1 well taken ones. I have a feeling that may be how this season goes. You score 3, we’ll score 4.
Crikey, there’s some rot on here. We’ve absolutely battered Oxford and played sublime football. I know it’s frustrating if we aren’t winning but come on, that was superb. We’ll destroy a lot of teams this year. Wright, MVE, Saka, Binks superb. Also Lati had a solid game. I had my doubts but he...
Well we’re not getting a defensive and an attacking midfielder in. I think you’ll find Rudoni is that man with Torp and Allen next in line. Defensive option is far more likely (and needed) for me.
All time top 11 is difficult. Started going up late 70’s so a big chunk was in different leagues. But just on quality alone mine would have to be:
Ogrizovic
Nilsson Peake Babb Pearce
Bennett McAllister Robson Gallacher (wrong wing I know)
Regis Dublin
To be frank this is getting ludicrous. The window is still open. The loan window longer still. Sheaf is still here. We were pushing for play offs last year and have strengthened the squad. There is obviously activity going on at the club. Why are we so desperate for instant news and activity.
