Match Thread Rotherham United FC - Coventry City Match Thread - Wednesday 25th Oct

Using the Rotherham game as an example, Dasilva delivered 4 crosses into dangerous areas that we won first contact on: 54: Simms’ headed chance 85: Sakamoto glanced wide 95: O’Hare glanced wide 96: Thomas put header wide I don’t think his delivery has been particularly lacking in many games.

What Do We Need To Change?

One other thing actually. Plenty saying Eccles is too samey to Sheaf. I don’t think that’s the case at all. Eccles is playing far too advanced for large portions of games and we’re losing structure and control due to this. He seems to be underlapping MvE a lot in games which means reduced...

What Do We Need To Change?

Play the box midfield. Work the ball into the lone striker’s feet far earlier in the move and allow him to pop off to one of the AMs. Wing backs higher up and attacking the space behind opposition full backs. We need to be more direct. The amount of times a ball was on to Godden or Simms last...

    Cwr supporters forum tonight

I’ll qualify this by saying I haven’t listened to it (yet), but 80%+ of fans are absolutely clueless and make Andy Turner look like Jeremy Paxman.

5 At The Back Needs To Go

Keep the back 3/back 5/however you wish to define it. What I want to see, though, is the ball played between opposition CB and FB for either MvE or Dasilva to run onto. Should do it from far deeper before the opposition defence has time to set.

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

Been mulling this over (not the Q of re-appointing him, more the general scenario). Badlan came in with a track record of focussing on European scouting for a team at a higher level. We now have Dean Austin (who seems to have spent just 4 of the last 20 years focussing on recruitment!) and Jamie...

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

One could argue we’ve never had the squad/resources to. Having gone out and spent big on strikers as well as bringing in far more attacking wing-backs, that no longer applies.

Did robins know they changed formation?

But his job is to make the difficult decisions. Shouldn’t give a toss about criticism - the basis of a 1-up-top system being inherently defensive is bollocks. My fear is we’ve backed ourselves into a corner of playing 2 up top having spent half the summer budget on 2 strikers. Hindsight and all...

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

It runs deeper than that. We don’t play in a way that delivers many goals. To me, it’s the system, not the players.

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

Something which accentuates how naff the recruitment was over the summer is that he’s by far our best option in AM at present (I’ll exclude Sakamoto as the sample size is far too small to make a judgement).

    Transfer Rumour Haji Wright

Think this is it. We seem to have changed playing style to something more ‘attractive’ but not thought about whether that works for the players at our disposal. Countless times we slow-play it so much to the edge of the opposition box that it’d take a miracle pass for Simms/Godden/Wright to have...

Why is Thomas getting such bad marks? Thought he was ok today.

I’m only getting you back at your own game. I too think he works in both.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Correct. The fact this is backward looking, though, negates the immediate effect of what we’ve seen the last week. This is the argument politicians need to use for the Net Zero drive, it’d be far more effective as a means of convincing people to opt for renewables and goods powered by renewables.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Inflation still stubborn primarily due to rising petrol prices. Cheers OPEC.
