Match Thread Stoke City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 17th Feb

We need to recall EMC from Peterborough to play against Maidstone, it’s all hands on deck. No way we can beat them otherwise. Pay an extra £2 million if we have to.

    Things that annoy you

I know I keep saying it but the amount of times that driving is mentioned in this thread makes me think having a car must have some kind of radicalising effect on you after a while.

    Ellis is big dog now

He’s started six games in 2024 and has scored or assisted in all but two of them. Immense.

    Maidstone Tickets

Would have thought it would be easy enough to put tickets on sale a day early for season ticket holders only. If you’re going to sell tickets by just making people stand in a big queue then surely you have the technical capability to ask for a season ticket/ticket stub at the point of sale? Or...

The idea that he wasn’t capable of starting one game against Maidstone United was always ridiculous

    Premier League thread

Yeah he’s making me look stupid for trying to defend him as an option for England tbh

    Things that annoy you

Our pass rates are already some of the lowest in the world. I like the idea in theory but it would be a huge drag on the economy in reality.

Win promotion or the FA Cup ?

It’s not the 80s anymore. Relative minnows winning the FA Cup (Wigan, Portsmouth) does very little to change the trajectory of the club. Promotion to the Premier League is usually transformative.

Match Thread Stoke City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 17th Feb

This is pretty much what I’m already saying? We didn’t pursue that many wingers/wide forwards in the summer because we were clearly preparing for a formation that didn’t use them. Now we’re reliant on a formation that does, and we don’t have enough. If the masterplan was always to seamlessly...

Robins bears plenty of responsibility for the squad being thin - it was him and the recruitment team who decided to divert all our cash into building a 3ATB-based squad in the summer, which has left us with redundancies and shortfalls now we’ve switched to 433.

    Maidstone Tickets

    Which regulars didn’t get one?

    Maidstone Tickets

Surely it could be solved by having any kind of priority system? It’s the equivalent of us getting a 50,000 allocation and then having regulars claim they had no chance of getting a ticket.

    Maidstone Tickets

How are there regulars who missed out when your allocation is essentially double your average attendance?

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Just once in a while it would be nice to have a debate on this forum without every thread hinging on shoddy analogies and ad hominem attacks. But today is not that day.

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

So your general position on crime is that laws don’t work? What’s your policy on illegal migration?

    Something urgent needs to happen

No-one was asking for him to make this apology and I don’t remember any players in similar situations doing so either. Personally I think it’s to his credit that he said something when he didn’t have to, even if it doesn’t justify what happened.
