    First choice midfield

When everybody is fit, it’s 3 from: Shipley - Decent squad player and has done ok to date this season, but not good enough to start for a promotion chasing side. Spots a decent pass but too often doesn’t pull it off. Westbrook - Same as above, has done well coming out of the cold to starting...

    Matty godden

Great start, clever player, looks a bargain. We have to wrap him in cotton wool. He is the difference between contenders, and winners.

    Marosi

For league 1 he is an excellent keeper, especially on a free. It’s inevitable he will get caught out at some point, but the calmness and way he passes it out is a joy to watch. Thought he could have done better with 2 of the Pompey goals but apart from that he has been excellent.

Glad our fans aren't the manager...

There is a complete prat sat behind me who from minute 1 was calling for a change in formation to 4-4-2 and to bring Biamou on. Firstly Biamou wasn’t even on the bench and secondly, 4-3-3 had got us to 4th in the league at kick off. Granted we were 1-0 down at the time but come on.... We will...

    Scrotes

Hi there, the girl in question was my wife (lol at the Dad comment). The lads in question believe it or not were actually Coventry fans, albeit as regulars at away games we can’t recall seeing them before. Oddly it all kicked off because the mouthy one was shouting “thanks for the 3 points”...

Jordan Shipley - is he good enough for league 1

So, I started this thread a year ago nearly.... What are everybody’s thoughts now he has had 40 odd league 1 games. And I ask this from a footballing/promotion contenders perspective, as opposed a “one of our own” view.

    Shipley extends contract

Decent squad player but nothing more. As soon as Allen is fit he will and should be on the bench. As much as I like his passion, we will not get promoted with him as a regular starter in midfield. I’ll await the backlash.

    Dave Boddy

Spoke to him outside the ground yesterday. He said that the move to Birmingham had gone as well as it could have, although nobody wants to be there. He is still talking to Wasps albeit not specifically about a return (couldn’t quite get this one as if not about a return then what else would they...

    Not Very Tactful

We’ve got to remember that Robins awarded Max a 3 year contract last summer, after securing promotion. Robins obviously thinks he can have an impact in League 1, I simply think Max is being looked after as the club don’t want a repeat of Jodi Jones where he breaks down and is out for another 12...

    Easy fixtures

Good point however since I can remember it’s the so called easier teams that we always struggle against. Points are points and you can only beat who is in front of you. Agree, Pompey will be a big test, and even bigger for me personally being that I work with about 50 Pompey fans.

Liam Kelly - First name on the teamsheet

The guy is getting better and better. It’s so important we keep him fit.

    Jobello

Thomas work rate was outstanding, unfortunately he wasn’t very good at assisting, or scoring which is the first priority of a winger.

    Jobello

i like the look of him. Fast, confident, tricky and seems to have a decent cross on him. The cross where Godden missed his kick was excellent. I think as the season goes on he will prove a better asset for the team than Thomas was.

    Vodafone & Hummel

That I don’t know, I assume a share with Wasps ? But genuinely don’t know.

    Vodafone & Hummel

You don’t just “start a contract”. Hummel were in talks long before the end of last season.

    Vodafone & Hummel

From what I have heard, and again only hearsay is that the club were pretty certain of staying at the Ricoh, and confident that the club shop would return to the ground also. It’s not all about shirts. How many training tops, scarfs, hats, key rings etc are now not going to be sold. My points...

    Vodafone & Hummel

I live 100 miles away, whilst playing at the Ricoh I’d visit the club shop before the games. A) because I am a full kit walker b) because I need to try things on before buying which rules out a lot of buying online and c) there was always stuff available in store that wasn’t on online. Anyway...

There will be a get out clause, if required.

    Vodafone & Hummel

Agreed, but they can sell more training wear etc. Take away the shirt issue shirt issue which is short term, which would you prefer, a stocked shop with 10-15k supporters being on your doorstep each week or 4-5k people with a burger van type stall. I’m not saying if this is true or not but the...

    Vodafone & Hummel

I appreciate it’s silly season with all of the rumours however have seen online and various rumours that Vodafone were lined up for the Ricoh naming rights, but have pulled out as they want CCFC as part of the deal. In addition, was told that Hummel are not best pleased either with the move to...
