    Doug on CWR

Fine line with squad size. We need 18-20 players capable of playing first team football regularly and then ideally supplemented on occasions by younger players. Anymore and you end up with an unhappy bunch of senior players. Even top sides have fairly modest squads, and if they have 2-3 key...

    Summer transfer window 2024

I’ve said he will improve the squad. Just questioning whether he’s better than Eccles and Torp, and given the alleged wages you’d hope he will be. We have missed in the past signing championships frees, so I don’t think it’s unfair to question it. Also scanned the Preston forum for 2 minutes...

    Summer transfer window 2024

Yeah fair. Though from the sounds he’ll be commanding a lot more £ than those two. Also in 12 months Eccles could well have kicked on again.

    Summer transfer window 2024

Assuming we play a 3 then you’d think Eccles with start in there too. Sure he’ll be solid enough. I just wonder if it improves us.

    Summer transfer window 2024

Is he definitely better than Eccles and Torp? I’m not sure. Helps the squad for sure, but I think there’s a decent chance we have another JDS situation on our hands.

    Summer transfer window 2024

Browne looks a decent pick up on a free, and will add much needed experience to the squad. Would have some serious question marks on whether he’d improve our starting XI though. And with that I’d be slightly concerned he’s on a long deal with big wages.

    24/25 is THE year

Think we probably want Southampton to go up. Leeds will have more challenges financially, lots of players out on loan they need to deal with, and you'd think Summerville and Gnonto will push to leave. We need to nail this transfer window, and we need everyone to step on again. The potential is...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

They and he have to cash their chips now. Nowhere to go from here, only down.

    Concerned now

That’s life. He deserves a go at the PL, should the right offer come in. Let’s get 4-5 quality players through the door and see how we do.

    Callum O'Hare

He’s agile though, quick to turn and over 5 yards.

    The no loans strategy

I think prudent to not waste money on loans if we thought this year was a transition year (albeit we got a lot closer than I'm sure most thought). However it can't be the long-term play, to get up we will need 3 or 4 quality loans that are contributing. I can't think of many sides (aside from...

    Callum O'Hare

Personally think O'Hare will make the grade in the PL. His running is absolutely elite, and he can play as well. In some of the big games this season he's shown his game is up to it. Will fit in well in a side that want to press.

Player of the Season top 5

Would be mine too. O’Hare, Sakamoto made huge contributions but not played enough. Bidwell, Eccles honourable mentions

    Callum O'Hare

Jesus wept some absolute tools on this forum, analysing his reaction to a missed penalty. O’Hare showed what a good player he is on Sunday. We’ll miss him.

Interesting take on the reality of the promised land

What are you arguing with? Premier League miles clear in the UEFA coefficient which measures performance in Europe over the past 5 years. More winners of the PL in the last decade than La Liga, Ligue une, bundesliga, and the same as Serie A (who prior to that had Juve winning 8 in a row)...

Interesting take on the reality of the promised land

Because very few English sides take it seriously when they’re involved. Plus I’m not arguing that it’s been stronger for the last 20 years but it has for the last 6-7 years. The Spanish league was undeniably better in the peak Ronaldo-Messi era. My original point was that the Premier League...

Interesting take on the reality of the promised land

I cba to argue. It’s very mainstream and accepted that the PL is a more competitive league with stronger teams than others in Europe.

Interesting take on the reality of the promised land

Historically it has been (look at Bayern, PSG, Juventus, Madrid/Barce) and mid table PL clubs far stronger than their counterparts in other leagues. Hence more competitive.
