    Just suppose a minute ..

There's nothing wrong with a rebrand so long as there's a charismatic figure prepared to lead the marketing for it. Jimmy Hill did that for the Sky Blue Revolution, and fans understood exactly what he was trying to do. But you try to slip it in quietly, like McGinnity did with the badge, and all...

    Richardson - Genius or Villain?

Look at the state of CCFC when he assumed the chairmanship. Look at the state of CCFC when he was kicked out of the chairmanship. That answers the thread's question unequivocally.

American property tycoon will move to buy Coventry if club slides into administration

The Crew. Always cringeworthy and uncomfortable to hear the men cheer as those girls - many, it seemed, of school age - bend over.
  4. Colonel Mustard

Lovely, kindly SISU, who have funded our club for the last 6 years...

Only if somebody thinks they are a philanthropic organisation, which nobody does. Pointless thread.

    Haskell

Heh, I was going to say that Coventry was the next logical step. Still, it's a big red flag for me. I'd like to know more about the timing of some of his moves into these territories.

    Haskell

I hope anybody who objected to SISU's role as a hedge fund is alarmed by Haskell's hotspots for business investment: Russia, South Africa, The Congo ...

American property tycoon will move to buy Coventry if club slides into administration

I would expect Jan to exclaim "We're not a blue chip team with global reach. We're a club!" at any forum with Mr Haskell.

    would you rather?

The split opinion on this issue just shows up our collective uncertainty.

    Chris Huhne

rob9872 was talking about the importance of compensation to keep talent within the public sector - hence the quotation before my post. Non-sequitur of the highest order. Besides, it should be obvious from the financial crash that government regulators were not properly compensated, because the...

    CWR phone in tonight.

Excellent! Eakin saying "I've 'ad enuff" makes the world a better place.

    CWR phone in tonight.

A quarter of the show gone, mostly news and travel and Geoff & Clive bantering among themselves. Maybe it's rose-tinted glasses, but I'm sure I remember the old Gurney/Dent show just being wall-to-wall discussion and phonecalls for an hour.

    Chris Huhne

You are broadly correct. This attack on the public sector is, as usual, self-inflicted wounding. I'm not sure how we expect any talent working on our behalf in parliament, the civil service, regulating the banks, public prosecution, or wherever else if we're not at least offering a secure salary...

    Glenmorangie on the rocks.

    Was Thorn a legitimate contender?

He was a legitimate candidate. Not who I would have picked, but I understand why SISU gave him the permanent job. He should have been sacked in October, though.

Manhattan Capital... are they back in town?

From 2007: http://www.bbc.co.uk/coventry/content/articles/2007/10/05/fletcher_resigns_feature.shtml Some snippets: 'For much of this year there had been hope that Manhattan Sports Capital Partners would put in an offer for City but this ultimately never came to fruition - a major stumbling...

CWR phone in On now until 7pm ish

I don't think fans are burdened with risk (at least in terms of capital), which is why so many are prepared to call for risks to be taken. We see it at clubs up and down the country, with calls to 'break the bank' or whatever else. And there is evidently a lot of wishful thinking that goes...

CWR phone in On now until 7pm ish

This would be true if we knew for sure that SISU would liquidate the club. But do we? Fisher may have floated the idea publicly, but there is every chance that was part of the public chess match with the council.
  18. Colonel Mustard

Manhattan Capital... are they back in town?

You won't get much argument about SISU's mismanagement of the club, but this is about CCFC's value and appeal.
  19. Colonel Mustard

CWR phone in On now until 7pm ish

That comes with a rather large asterisk though - what if nobody is there to replace SISU?
  20. Colonel Mustard

Manhattan Capital... are they back in town?

Their motivation was profit, just as Manhattan's would have been.
