Grimes and Allen look a great midfield combo. Why Allen was taken out of the team is beyond me. Wright looks far more aggressive. Maybe Lampard sticking with him gave him a boost.

I think we need to start the game at high tempo and so for me, Allen should start. When we drop into pedestrian pace we concede. We are much better on the front foot. Torp alongside Grimes. I would have Wright on the bench. Simms will want to score against his old (loan) club.

Well that was diabolical. Lampard took tactical and personnel risks, which completely back fired. Choosing to keep Wright on and not bringing on Allen who will pass and move around the box was odd. Why have Grimes our deepest player?

For a big guy, Wright shows less aggression than any player on the pitch.
