    Running

Ran the 5000mtrs in the Midland Track League yesterday for Godiva. Finally broke the 18 minute barrier with 17:49 On paper it went exactly as planned.... build a cushion in the first 3km and go through in 10:20-10:30 (i actually went through in 20:26)....... and have enough in hand to finish...

    Bet365 Stadium

I've always thought Stoke away fans were pretty loud tbh. And i enjoy Port Vale away.... as people say, its a step back in time but perhaps thats why i like it. Not been Stoke away but it has the hallmarks of your average out-of-town new stadium experience (much like the Ricoh)

Anybody actually play in a team?

You must've been decent to play for Jet Blades. I played for Woodlands on a saturday (also in the Cov Alliance, although i hovered between first and reserve teams), and a number of teams on a sunday, including The Cherry Tree, Bedworth Travellers Rest, Orchard FC (Bedworth) Stopped playing...

    Are we being “hyped”?

That's fair enough..... but "finish above most teams bar......." leaves you with little room for error.... you've basically got to finish top two out of the rest of the league (the "most competitive in the world" as the saying goes) ps: i think we'll finish above at least one of those four...

    The Olympics

You wouldn;'t hear anything outside of Kerr/Ingerbritsen on mainstream media. But inside the sport, Hocker was widely tipped to have an equal chance, should the race be a little slower (say 3:29 or above), due to his phenomenal finishing speed. What was a surprise was that he could still be in...

    Are we being “hyped”?

The three who came down... Throw in Leeds. And us..... plus Middlesborough who seem as hotly tipped as us. Thats six already. Who knows what the rest of the division is going to throw up, but Norwich and Preston are always around. Add in a couple of others who are bound to overperform...

when was the darkest era for the club?

I always thought it was Scott Shearer.... but looking at the records online, it seems Steele was in goal and Shearer on the bench.

when was the darkest era for the club?

Blackpool away the saturday before xmas, being 2 down and a player sent off after about 10 minutes, on that awful temporary stand.... Great Days

when was the darkest era for the club?

Away to Gillingham when Peter Reid was manager was possibly the worst away match i went to. 3-1 defeat, between xmas and new year. The venom directed at Reid (and the players) as they left the pitch was something else.

when was the darkest era for the club?

Was it the first season down or the second, we had a couple of abject home performances prior to xmas..... i think one was a loss at home to Grimsby if memory serves me right, which led to a sit-in protest by the West Terrace. That was quite a bad period.... not sure it compares with the...

    Bordeaux have folded

when was the darkest era for the club?

Pathetic. Just let it go you sad-arse

when was the darkest era for the club?

I never saw them much after Sixfields, until one lonely winter day a year or two later i was behind the goal in the Telegraph Stand, and spotted them half a dozen rows in front!

when was the darkest era for the club?

I stood a couple of rows behind the guys from GMK..... Texas Holdem, Knowl, etc. Used to get the train down.... then stop in that pub (Thomas Beckett?) which was between the station and the rugby ground. Tried to make the best of it but it wasn't particularly fun (particularly when the train...

when was the darkest era for the club?

Another sorry saga was that Brentford game where Fisher got roughed up in that bar in Ealing after the game.... Ok people could say he was unwise to be in there, but it was pure bullying of a guy on his own. Really was shameful.

when was the darkest era for the club?

I had a season ticket behind the goal, immediately in front of the hill. In fact, i was the guy who charged up the hill after the Brentford game to confront those on the hill dishing out abuse, which led to the police getting involved, and i think it was reported on CWR at the time. (i also...

when was the darkest era for the club?

Getting smashed 4-0 or 4-1 away to Shrewsbury on a tuesday night in our first season down in League 1, and realising we hadn't quite hit the bottom yet. Although i had a season ticket, the whole Sixfields episode was grim. Wasps coming in and so many people seemingly backing it. The game...

    Running

I like Warwick Racecourse Parkrun. You do get at least several hundred people there, but because of the nature/route of the course, there is little congestion, and no lapping of other runners. There is a short hill at halfway (but the rest of the route is completely flat), and not a good...

    Running

Did an uphill race in the Lake District on friday evening, finishing on the summit of Helvellyn. Was incredibly warm on friday (as i'm sure everyone knows), and i felt pretty ropey warming up. Not sure how much was the heat, and how much was just the usual pre-match nerves! This race was in a...

Something happening at the club that's very different

Whilst it is fantastic that these positive changes are happening.... in reality they are just bringing us up to the level needed to compete at the top end of the championship.... and still don't really put us on a competitive footing with the relegated clubs. Hate to put a dampener on things...
