Match Thread Coventry City at Blackpool Match Thread - Tuesday 21st Aug

Not a bad interview from our Geoff (aside from the weird question about O’Brien ‘wanting the 2 goals back’. What was that about?!). Honest from Robins, still doesn’t mask the horror show we’ve just witnessed.

‘Bakayoko looked lost out there tonight. I hope I don’t see that side of his attitude again’. Jesus.

Gobsmacked. Robins should have kept faith in the majority of the squad that made us so proud in May. Even Burge - who I have criticised for so long - stood out and played his part. Unless he’s still struggling with an injury (which I don’t think I’ve heard), surely he should be the number one...

Can’t be as fuming as we are at him for this god awful performance. Will be interesting how he can defend such a dreadful performance by his £200k striker after this. Forget not playing to his strengths, the countless offsides, lack of threat and giving the ball away constantly justify the reaction.

Neither gk are good enough for this level, if Robins were that confident in Burge being number one he’d have put him straight back in. Makes you wonder why on earth they didn’t mark this position as a priority in the Summer.

Fuck me, offside again!!!! He must be in double figures by now!

Saves me providing my own summary. Spot on. That was even more frustrating than Wimbledon! What the hell were we thinking spending money on that useless tosser? Even the ‘give him a chance’ brigade must by now be losing patience. Woeful. Tactics are inept, players not performing and I see no...

Match Thread Coventry City at Blackpool Match Thread - Tuesday 21st Aug

Would be over the moon with a victory tonight, with another clean sheet and a couple of goals from open play. Potentially a good time to play Blackpool, who are struggling to score themselves, have yet to win a game in the league and have recently lost their manager. In reality though, I think...

You say that Nick but Hiwula missed a couple of very good changes against Scunthorpe, one against Wimbledon and one against Oxford. Bakayoko was through against Wimbledon too and squandered it. I’m hoping they come good but we can only comment on what we’ve seen and produced so far in terms of...

I think we are quite lucky with the array of talent we have at our disposal in midfield (Doyle, Kelly, Bayliss, Ogogo, Shipley, Andreu, Jones, Allassani) compared to the striker department which between them, doesn’t look as though it can hit a cows arse with a banjo. I know it’s early doors but...

Or not spent £200k on an out of favour Walsall striker with a poor track record that we didn’t need. Surely that money added to our previous offer could’ve pushed through the deal with Pompey? To me, that would’ve made more sense.

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

I spoke to Dave Boddy outside the ground yesterday, nice bloke who took a minute or two to chat about a few bits and bobs. I asked if we were still pursuing Chaplin and he said yes, trying to do a loan with a view to a permanent arrangement but (and I quote) ‘Portsmouth are taking the piss’.

I felt he played quite well yesterday. Glad Robins has given him the jersey despite Burge being back. Should be his to lose now.

Agree with what you’re saying in terms of Chaplin, I think it’s more the ‘like for like’ nature of what Chaplin would bring. Who’s to say that Hiwula won’t be that man, certainly too soon to gauge. Interesting that #10 remains vacant which for me points toward us still looking to do something...
