When my Calf went a couple of years ago, unfortunately yes I did have to stop running for a couple of weeks. I was still able to use a cross-trainer, exercise bike. It's incredibly frustrating. But better to err on the side of caution. Mine went in a race and it was only a fortnight before the...

The difference between training for a 100mtr and a 5km is so vast as to basically be a different sport.... We have Olympic level at both in our club, and its night and day...

"pound for pound" in terms of cardio health it will give you the best workout and progression of all the traditional exercise methods. (swimming/cycling/Cross trainer/etc) The payoff to that is its hard (compared to things like using a cross trainer, bike, etc) and can be hard on the body.

    Bundesliga going ahead

There's no doubt 83000 every week, and that huge terrace behind the goal are fantastic. But I think there's better fan groups in Gernamy.... Eintracht Frankfurt for one. Union Berlin are fantastic for a small club. Dynamo Dresden in the European elite for fans despite their poor team.

I know Leicester City have a little bit of a twinning/partnership with a German 2nd division side. Think it's Bochum....

Went to that stadium in 95... Think its changed a little now, I'm sure there was only a roof over one side when I went...

    Bundesliga going ahead

RB Leipzig can do one... Dynamo Dresden themselves are in relegation scrap at the bottom end of 2nd division, yet pull in over 25000 at home, and their away support makes anything in England look small-time. I'm sure they've taken 15000 away a number of times in past few seasons. Down that...

    Highfield Rd auction

At the Derby game I saw two blokes carry off, and walk down Thackhall Street with a "thank you for not swearing" sign about the same size as a sponsor board.

I would go and see a specialist sports/running physio when it comes to sporting activities. Happy to recommend if it helps....

I was not in any way suggesting you should be satisfied, as you obviously weren't happy with it... Just advising a little caution about expecting your min/mile times to tumble by massive amounts by dropping down from 3 miles to 2 miles.... But it looks like you're making huge progress.... I...

Ran a very disappointing 20:21 on the Bedworth Parkrun course this morning... Ok it wasn't race conditions, had to do a lot of weaving off the path, I've been training twice a day since the lockdown with little rest, so wasn't fresh, but very disappointing. Did start a little too fast and it...

    Running

Something you find with running (in fact a lot of sports)..... Just because you get fitter, it doesn't necessarily feel any easier to push to your limit... That limit may be far better than what you could do before, but it's still equally painful...

    Running

You'd be surprised how much it takes to knock off 45-60secs.... That's 20-30secs a mile. 13:53 for 2 miles is approx 21:40/5km pace, so probably about right for you.... I'd even say its very good if your 5km is around, was it 22:20..? If you knock as much as 20secs/mile off that pace you're...

1hr12 half marathon is indeed fantastic. But whoever above suggested he could go and do 1hr05 in a race... That is a huge jump and I very much doubt it. You don't knock off almost 30secs/mile overnight...

I've done the Coventry Way Race twice (well once I completed it, last year, and the year before had to retire after about 30 miles). Great route. The race starts at Meriden Queens Head in a clockwise direction. First weekend in April usually. I heard a rumour that this year it may have been...

My main suggestion if you're really serious, is to join a club... one of the other regulars on this thread recently joined Northbrook... i'm at Godiva Harriers... there's also Massey Ferguson and Sphinx in Cov…. as well as Nuneaton Harriers, Leamington AC, Kenilworth AC.... if you want any...

    Running

It's just a case of building up to it slowly... When things are normal I average around 40-45 mile weeks, with the odd sporadic "high" week if I'm on holiday or off work, etc. So the stamina is there. But you have to build to it slowly... I was fortunate to be quite fit when I started running...
