I believe Mowbray at the time claimed we didn't need him as we have enough cover in that area.

Mowbray is rapidly becoming the Basil Fawlty of management. He will never descend to the depths plummeted by thorn but he seems to be attempting to be runner up.
Why because of stuff Turner is reporting he has allegedly said ?

I thought he claimed he was coming back from an injury (neck if I recall) and couldn't gamble on his recuperation time ?
He said he would take a couple of months to get up to full speed. The guy turned out for Finland when he said that. Given Mowbray has decided it was worth writing off an entire month anyway that seems rather odd.

Not odd to TM I'm sure.

whats this?
Look at the opening post , and many of the other threads on here this week .Most of them are all about stuff Turner has reported that Mowbray has hinted at or allegedly said to him .Just seems like it's been a very slow week over at CET HQ and Turner is looking to stir things up .

Whenever I've seen Mowbray he always comes across as a manager not comfortable in front of a camera , so it seems strange he's letting these little " snippets " out to Turner

Unless Turner is really Juggy ?

When did the Finnish league become a decent standard ?

The Champions of what is in effect the Finnish Premier League are better than Coventry City by a margin.

For once I actually agree with Grendel, he was playing at the time Mowbray quoted that he wasn't able to. It was an excuse.

We'd already missed out on Wilson by that stage too...

He signed Turnball, possibly even blew more of the budget than he thought on it.

It's all bonkers really, our defence especially in the centre is far too weak.

As long as it backs up your bizarre transfer conspiracy theory then I suppose you are delighted

What conspiricy theory?

As the weeks go by, people like you are looking more and more stupid.

The team is absolutely shocking at the moment and alarm bells were ringing ages ago.

They were and Mowbray tried to bring players in and failed , just like every other club in the league system did .

Are you still suggesting he did this on purpose ?

No, I'm suggesting at the moment that he is demonstrating nothing other than being fucking clueless.

Absolutely no chance of winning the league this season.

Would love it if we did mind.

I genuinely can't believe the slating Mowbray is getting. I hope he wins the league and then shoves the trophy up some of your backsides in punishment.

I hope we win the league too. But for a manager who's had as poor a calendar year as he's had why is it unbelievable? Stats show Pressley did just as good in harder circumstances and he got the bullet

Yeah they only play champions league football. Who'd wanna play for them?

Seriously?

They played champions league qualifiers. Have a look at the standard of some teams that played at that stage.

Have a look at their squad on Wikipedia. Their star striker was released by Leeds as a youth and played a few games for non league Newcastle Benfield.

It's a really poor standard.

It's unbelievable because it is so early in the season, with half a team of new players. Give it a few weeks. If it's still shit then, then yes, it's time to review things. But after a half-dozen games I don't see how you can't write the guy off, especially off the back of the best season in years. And yes, before someone mentions it, I'm well aware we tailed off last season, but the finishing league table position was still the best we've had in L1.

Our star striker got released by Colchester, our best defender came from forest green in the non league. What's your point?

Yes it's early in the season but like I said it's not just this years form. I wouldn't call it tailing off I'd call it a capitulation which was 100% his fault. He had a good few months like Pressley did and that's it. Same as he did at Middlesbrough. He's shown me nothing in the last 9 months to suggest he's gonna turn this around

If you look around the other teams in that league there's a good few players in there. Taye taiwo for one (ex Milan and marseille)

So we sack another manager and employ another manager who has a honeymoon period and then results start to go against him , so we sack another manager and employ another manager who has a honeymoon period and then results start to go against him , so we sack another manager and employ another manager who has a honeymoon period and then results start to go against him ..........and on and on and on and on

At what point should we invest in a manager for 5 years or so and ride the high and lows with him ? Or should we just carry on with the successful policy of the last 10-12 years ?

When did I say sack him? I just said its not unbelievable that people are asking questions of him

Why can't Turnbull and Willis play together in the centre?

Have the feeling Mowbray is being over protective.

RCC
Geordie Willis Turnbull Page
Jones Gadzhev McCann Reid
Sordell Agyei
Willis will be right back if we go to a back 4, new player will slot alongside Turnbull and Sterry will drop to the bench

It's really isn't and I can't believe anyone would say so.

No disrespect meant whatsoever, but I don't see how you can question other people's knowledge of football when you throw statements about seemingly knowing nothing about the Scandinavian leagues. Yes the Veikkausliiga isn't quite as strong as say the AllSvenskan, but those leagues aren't shit by any means. The top teams in those leagues could compete in lower Championship/higher League 1 level without problems. The fact that the team Ojala has joined (SJK) won the league last year, and then you look at our current league position, the teams wouldn't be matched if they played a game.

If it's so good why aren't there lots of Finnish players being brought over here to play in the championship?

Looking at the playing history of the two British players at the Finnish champions tells me all I need to know.

We'll have to agree to disagree, and I guess the argument isn't really that relevant to anything so we've gone off on a bit of a tangent.
