Coventry City may be in League One but rank 15th in the Ultimate League. They enjoyed sustained top-flight status between 1967/68 to 2000/01 but are now the biggest underachievers among the top 20, sitting 17th in League One, 46 places below their Ultimate League ranking.

Ouch!

Did we ever achieve 15th in the top league anyway!! :)

Bloody hell, we've finally won something and there are still people here complaining. :)

Back around the time of the World Cup in Germany 2006 the englandfans club (formerly the England Members Club) had 25,000 members and a waiting list. When you applied you had to state the club side you followed. They produced a league table of teams followed, We were 18th most poplar amongst England members. I know it's not scientific, but it was a pretty decent guide to the size of clubs (or at least their followings) in the list. United were top Liverpool second.

yeah cheers for selling HR, getting us relegated from the Prem and leaving us £60m in debt.

Yeah those heroes took us on, financial and real estate experts with super deep pockets allegedly?

Anywhere I'd be able to find this?

Bastards for letting us drop out of the Premier League :(

Shouldn't that read Bastards for not getting us back or even giving us a top six finish in the third tier of football???

Possibly the most flawed "biggest club" study I've ever seen. We rarely finished as high as 15th when we were in the PL. If we're looking at the last 50 years how are we above Derby who won 2 division one titles and have been promoted to the PL a few times in the last 10 or so years and have a bigger fanbase than us? Odd.

Derby have been out the PL for about 25 seasons since 1967. We are about half that.

15th isn't our average position, its our rank based on an average position of 22.2. Basically this list will just tell you who spent the most time in the premier league/top flight over the last 50 years

Of course we did! I think our best position was 6th or maybe 7th.

thanks to SISU we have a club

Thanks to SISU we have an extra Rugger club that we can watch

Thanks to SISU we are one step from being homeless.

Are you saying that without SISU we wouldn't have a club? :thinking about:

ah, the only show in town concept....now that really has been our undoing!

SISU weren't the only show in town. I know of at least 2 other interested parties at the time KPMG were running through the administration process (it was administration in all but name). Unfortunately both of them identified that ownership of the Ricoh was crucial and walked away when it became clear CCC were not prepared to sell. We ended up with SISU as CCC effectively blocked the other interested parties.

As they say you can make stats say all sorts of things. Especially when you restrict data on an arbitrary basis. It isn't really the proof of size

All largely irrelevant isn't it though. Where we are now and where we take from here is the important thing isn't it? Outwardly we are an under achieving club with potential but with few assets on the pitch and none of note off it, massive debts and loss making, and a disconnected fan base are we really 15th biggest club in the country?

Wonder what a measure of say turnover would place us, or losses, or wages or crowds etc :thinking about:

A lot of them were included in the Daily Mail one and they put us something like 50th.

Hmm indeed, personally i dont care about the history its about where we are now and the prospects of where we can move to. This is the major concern and the mountain the climb!

I love the argument about without SISU we wouldn't have a club...

In the time they have been here we could have reformed and be close to where we are now. Instead of being on the way down, we would be looking up... Look at AFC Wimbledon. It only took them 10 years to get back to the football league.

That would be a different club would it not?

You can't lay the blame for this on SISU (oh, how it would be great if we could), we have consistently played badly over a number of seasons to achieve this accolade, plain and simple. God forbid we drop into Division 2:whistle:
