Of course. Just if the wording was King didn't think the time was right, I'd guess that's because MR's position isn't secure.
Could look at this another way, maybe DK assured MR he’s the main man, he has his full support and he believes he’ll turn the results around without having to hire yet another voice to add into the mix. Maybe Robins was having a little confidence crisis and DK backed him up, and they both decided that it wasnt the right time, but maybe something they’d both reconsider in the future, maube at the end of the season going into next.

Definitely one way to look at it. Glass half empty or half full.

Also quite possible. It’s a big set of games coming up for the manager either way and we need much more from a good number of players. Hope they step up.

I don’t think he *wants* MR out, if he did then he’d have got his own choice in soon after taking charge. I do think at least in his mind he’s giving MR no excuse to fail and it’s getting close to that line being crossed hence no new expenses while we see if he can ride this bad form out.

If we’re firmly in a relegation battle by Christmas then MR will be gone and so hiring an assistant will have made little sense.
Sorry - I didn’t mean it as, wants him out. king obviously wants him to do well. I agree with your comments as in - no new expenses. He’s not going to give him anything further.

Will be interesting how long King gives him now

I still think if this is the case someone is pretty much lined up with a number 2

Let’s face it , no one wants MR gone that would be stupid . He’s done more for this club than anyone . Let’s do what we do best and get 💯 behind him and the team , it will come good and it starts at Preston . Most on here was asking for a statue not so long back and I for one would love to see this happen .

Any good owner would be planning the next manager if he is considering moving the current one out. Better to be prepared and have a short list you can ponder than go in blind.

Regardless on how I feel about Robins this season he will always deserve a statue for the work he’s done in his time here. Sacked or not, he has been one of the best managers we’ve had

I’m very much in the Robins deserves longer camp, and i think he’s been one of our better managers over the last 50 years.

I’m not in the “he deserves a job for life” brigade which is frankly silly.

As i have said before getting cov promoted from lg2 via the play offs was our minimum expectation given relative club size. Going up via a cancelled season was a good achievement and i believe we would have stayed the course but of course we will never know.

His track record in the championship is solid but not spectacular.

He has the squad and infrastructure to at least make the play offs. If we are not in and around it by Xmas he will go and he will deserve to go. It’s a results business where people are paid a fortune and in return results are expected. That’s the trade off.
