That reads like it’s a level of Donkey Kong!Stuck on a train outside Rugby for what seemed ages and had to disembark and walk track side to the front of the train and realight then moving off and arriving at Wembley seconds before kick off dressed in a gorillas outfit...jeez it was hot.
Do they not allow fans to upload tickets or something to their account? This points system is hopeless for the pay at the gate fans and there are many who don’t or can’t afford STs. Work patterns don’t suit having a season ticket etc.
My son is soon to be 21, he text me yesterday and said for all the younger supporters next Saturday is their 87 moment.
I really hope they enjoy it as much as we did the cup final.
Yep. many memories of the day. @SkyBlueSam01 's granddad (RIP) doing the Mexican wave on the coach on the way back to Leamington Spa; stopping off in a village in the middle of nowhere and invading the local 'disco' and the camp DJ being terrified, until he realised that we were not going to wreck the joint. Someone (RIP) from Cubbington, without a ticket on our coach who vaulted the turnstiles twice, before getting in (not even sure he supported us). Telling my ex brother in law (then about 17) that we'd be fine when his face dropped after Clive Allen's early goal. Great day and memories.
It really is - I’m 28. My mum talks of how exciting the buzz was around the city on cup final day and the parade… Coming from someone who does not care about football at all. If only I had a time travel machine!

Hearing fans talk about this has always made me envious and especially before this last 6 years it felt rubbish that the last generation of Cov fans had glory days to reminisce. For me, my top 3 best moments were being mascot v PNE back in 2004/05 season, beating Man U 2-0 under Dowie and Westwood's last minute penalty save in a win over Wolves - I couldn't get tickets to the final home game at HR.The excitement really started building after we knocked United out and just carried on building all the way to May, it was incredible.
It's easy to overlook just how significant that result actually was! Had we lost against Blackburn it's possible our season would be over and the vultures would be circling for Gyokeres and Hamer. Now we're all buying tickets to Wembley for a shot at the top league! If there was a time to use a time machine, that was it!*Robins has one, that’s how he’s got us 5th. You have no idea how many times he’s used it to get Ben Wilson to score.
Have you any idea what this hotel was called ?Me and four mates went down to London on the Friday lunchtime, train was full of Cov fans, stayed in a hotel in Kings Cross... literally full of Cov fans and bumped in to an old mate who had flown in from the USA and was staying in the same hotel.
Great days!!
Yeah they threw themselves on the lines, not the brightest fan base them.My son is soon to be 21, he text me yesterday and said for all the younger supporters next Saturday is their 87 moment.

Yes definitely, always be thankful that we had our day in the sun when it was still the biggest domestic football match on the calendar, 3pm k/o, last game of the season, neutral ground semifinals etcFabulous day and so very special. All at a time when you hardly saw live football on the TV that much. Growing up in the 70s and 80s the whole country would dash out in the morning to get the shopping sorted on Cup final Saturday. It was a special event in the calendar and that year everyone was watching us…..I was so proud.

All these things played there part in contributing to the magic of the cup, and sadly their removal has contributed to the FA cup final now being just another game.
I honestly can't remember the name of the hotel but we had been drinking in Covent Garden and when we returned to the hotel there was a large bar/disco which was rammed with Cov fans and it was a great finish to the night,I got chatting to an American girl who was staggered that we were so loud and singing before we had played the gameHave you any idea what this hotel was called ?
Myself my brother and a big group of city fans were drinking where we could but being refused at many establishments across the West end, I don’t know how, why or by who’s instruction but w e ended up at a big suburban hotelI wanna say the “Hotel Lilly” but can’t be absolutely sure.
There was a huge bar/nightclub room with a disco playing it was absolutely mobbed with city fans and from what we could gather about 30 city fans had rooms booked ‘I’m not kidding when I say there must have been anywhere up to a thousand city fans in that hotelcompletely took the place over.
The police turned up in numbers but in all honesty the mood was never sinister, everyone was in party mood and the police and hotel staff seemed content to concede the hotel for that one night and were just relieved there was no trouble.
I woke up at 8.10am sitting in a chair opposite 2 lifts on the 6th floor with a Spanish cleaning lady hoovering round my feet, it quickly dawned on me I was on my own (obviously no phones back then ) no brother, no wallet, no idea and worst of all no ticket
panicking I made my way down to the foyer and explained my situation to a receptionist, she informed me that there was a large number of football supporters congregating in the club room, I made my way there preying under my breath, entered the room and walked straight into my cheering brother & mates.
Turns out we were persuaded by 1 staff member & 2 cops to book a room at 4.30am, my brother took my wallet to pool the cash to pay for the room in reception and when he turned round I’d vanished.
I’ve so many fantastic memories of that weekend, it was epic and could never be topped
Mate we were with you, we’d been all round Covent Garden, as I say, I have no idea how or why we ended up at that hotelI honestly can't remember the name of the hotel but we had been drinking in Covent Garden and when we returned to the hotel there was a large bar/disco which was rammed with Cov fans and it was a great finish to the night,I got chatting to an American girl who was staggered that we were so loud and singing before we had played the game
