I’d rather we gambled. I thought that was the model. Sheaf, Walker & O’Hare we’re essentially L1 gambles last season.

Sheaf from Arsenal, Walker from Forest and Ohare from Villa. I meant the alternative of gambling on lower league players. Players like Ohare becoming available on a free don’t happen too often. Walsh is probably the closest this summer and he’s gone to a club that pay bigger wages and have been in play offs two years on the bounce. Anyone know what Swans offered him ?

Also guessing Sheaf has come out of this years budget and Bright (love him or hate him) has got the ability to turn out to be a young exciting signing as could Gyokeres, who was a full international at 19/20. We’d all like young exciting players to be signed and hopefully we can sneak one or two in but I haven’t seen loads on the move where we realistically could’ve been in the mix

Yeah they came from Prem/Champ clubs but they’d all played their football at L1 level before we signed them is what I meant.

I think you probably pay more to a L1 team with a 20 yo starlet than a Prem U23 who has played in L1 but may be wrong there.

If there’a league one players we can get is get them though definitely. But I think you’re right maybe there’s just not many around right now.

Although I reckon the 'long term target' is probably Osti I think there is a small possibility of it being Panzo. We have supposedly been looking at him for a while and with Dijon having been relegated he might be looking to leave. Maybe he's available for an affordable price with a relegation clause?

My bet is the long term target is a name that hasn’t been mentioned before.

I get you shmee we need to see the last 3-4 signings before we can fully judge

But we’ve added up front. Maatsen looks as good as McCallum at the start of last season. We need top quality at cb for me and we are well set. We also need injured players to come back well and perform

What more were you expecting?

I’m also sure we have more money for wages but also sure that we cannot hope to compete at the top without more or a lot of luck

Central midfield is quite vulnerable at the moment still and while I’m interested to see how young Eccles pushes on a replacement for Mr James he is not. Young players are great for developing and making a profit but a peppering of at least some more senior players is still required

Well, thankfully any suggestion we should be in for Tom Lees is over now, he's joined Huddersfield.
Really odd fit imo, Corberan likes a possession based style & there's not many worse CBs on the ball than Lees.

Sheaf and hamer are good partnership regardless of age. Eccles looks like he can make it st this level and Kelly can do a job when need him

I wouldn't mind 1 more CM but it's not urgent
We literally have 1 fit CM out of those 4 at the moment. Are you happy with Sheaf and Allen starting the season at CM?

Eccles has started two games in the championship and neither I think in midfield

Robins keeping cards close to his chest. Notice Clarke Salter was only brought on for the final five mins for Chelsea today.

Looks like it’s the 2 loan signings and Cranie/Souare not an option. Unless he’s playing a tactical game to get Boddy to do something extra.

Me too. Honestly if we do sign them up plus a couple of tasty loans you have to say its not a bad window in the circumstances.

I reckon he is looking at two others. If he gets none or one, he will try to keep cranie and souare - if he gets both, then perhaps he will try and keep one of them.
It is difficult to guess without knowing the position and age profile of the two possibilities though!

Gary Cahill leaving palace. Coukd he be the long term target?

35yo so a drop to championship is likely. But would think clubs better placed thsn us to take him

Doubt a 35 year old would be the long term target. Would be a class signing but think he will find himself in the premier league or abroad.

He could be a long term target. Maybe MR wanted him during his first spell in charge
