He was saying that Patterson was really impressed with the offer. I think the offer to Patterson has gone on Waghorn hence the bitterness

Don't know the circumstances under which he left, but they'd be right to upgrade on him if they could. It is what it is, I'm not enamoured with our business this summer but there's only a handful of clubs who I think have recruited well so far.
can’t get my head around Forest, they struggled last year and have done nothing
Was speaking to a Reading fan today who said they were under embargo as well, first I'd heard of it. Forest's ownership is a total mess and I'd guess there the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing
maybe Robins just didn’t like the look of him or didn’t want to offer 2 years- are we certain that this was a financial decision or is that part of the Dawkins rumour?
Who cares? We want established strikers at this level we have to pay for them

I wonder if that was because it was total bollocks? He’s deleted it now anyway

I had no idea about Reading either… good for us though
I guess we’ll know when we either do or don’t sign someone else.
Did we need 2 established Championship strikers though (and yes I’m stretching that a fair bit with Gyokeres)? As it stands we will have at least one of two £1m strikers or potentially our top earner on the bench. That’s not even taking Godden into consideration who may be hard pushed to make the squad. Then you look at the general lack of cover elsewhere…I dunno. Three days away from the season opener, it’s a little unnerving.
If Clarke-Salter comes in then fantastic, but there are still gaps.
Not good at all by the latest sounds of it
Reading FC in race against time to land new signings for start of Championship campaign at Stoke - Berkshire Live (getreading.co.uk)
They've lost over £90 million in the last 3 seasons, you're 'allowed' to lose just £39m. Pretty damning that even despite being so short on players the manager still won't consider McNulty

i just read it too- they look like they’re in a worse state than Derby- “sustainability issues”. This is probably why some people were predicting them to go down, thought that was strange at the time
Yes. Despite the nonsense spoken on here attack was a far bigger problem than defence last year, we didn't score enough goals.
We need a centre back and some temporary cover in midfield.

We will recruit 2 loan players and a permanent before end of august I’m pretty sureWe can do this every time these rumours pop up and the actual deals were making seem to back it up. Or we can live in constant lala land where any minute now we’re going to sign someone. The people arguing here have so far gone from “they haven’t come back from training yet” to “the media staff aren’t here yet” to “we aren’t back from Spain yet” to “the season doesn’t start for weeks” to “the transfer window closes in a month”.
After a while mate you’ve got to stop hoping that quacking waddling thing coming over the hill might turn out to be a swan.

We didn’t create any chances. Because our defence and midfield were poor on the ball and out GK couldn’t command his box so we got dragged back to the 18 yard line half the games.
Walker and Godden both put away the chances they actually got. Isolating a different set of strikers ain’t going to solve the goal scoring problem.
Agree with this. Maybe more if we sell Hamer or O'Hare. We will recruit 2 loan players and a permanent before end of august I’m pretty sure
We scored more than 9 other sides, but only 3 sides conceded more.

And we were 21st in xG. Which suggests we scored more than we should’ve given the chances we created. Which suggests the strikers weren’t the issue.

Guessing you mean Cashman as the permanent?

take the point but the stats can also show different things
We were 18th in clean sheets (28%) but we were 21st in failed to score (39%), meaning more goals in fewer games- eg Millwall- as opposed to consistently scorin

I don’t know how much you watched is last season but we had to basically forgo any attacking intent to stop leaking goals. At times playing with five across the back, three DMs and the leagues most defensive AM. We also had to completely give up playing out from the back.
There’s more to scoring goals than the strikers on the pitch.
I don’t disagree at all so don’t get wound up, however I thought on many occasions we had to play like that because our attackers were incapable of keeping possession & we’d just give it straight back to them. I don’t think I ever felt confident going into games that we were going to score.
