Brandon Mason’s contract terminated. Must be to free up funds for a signing…right?

Partly. More likely for his benefit so he can join a new club as a free agent once he's recovered which he wouldn't have been able to if still under contract to us after today.

Likely to be less than the whole cost of the contact but who knows how much

he must have been paid to leave

Some arrangement will have been agreed and he may have a moved lined up once recovered from injury. So becoming free agent means deadline day no longer applies to him.

So probably suits both parties.

Yes, I think McCallum exceeded expectations a bit
The surprise to me isn't that he lost his place, but that he disappeared so spectaculary from the options list. Even Jobello has popped up now and again on the subs bench, but Mason seems to have just been abandoned, and his loan at St Mirren wasn't exactly a stellar success.

Think he had a row with the manager
Never a good idea really

Not really if everything is sorted already
The manager doesn't have to sign anything, it's all director and administrative level for the documents
I suppose it's as much if there's a sudden opportunity for somebody to go at a price that opens up other targets that had seemed closed.

I'm assuming he'll still have his laptop on, mind ;)

Quietest this thread has ever been on the day we have to get it to 250 pages before midnight! Or is it 11pm?

I hope we can get a few out either on permanent (jobello, hillsner and Shipley) or loan (drysdale, Reid) just to take a bit off the wage bill if nothing else. Hope they all have the same desire to have a career rather than just take a pay packet. Good to see Mason agreed to a pay off.

Think we still need to consider it a decent window to get in a few, certainly improved the squad overall and have held onto the key assets (O'hare, Hamer)
