Not true - it's weaker in a few areas. Centre midfield (James), left side defense. Both will be sorted before the season starts. Plus we have players who struggled with long term injury more likely to contribute.
We also need a replacement for Osti

I’m pretty confident we’ll start the season with a stronger squad than we finished with.

James is a loss but replaceable, as is McCallum. All our first team signings so far have improved the squad and if we get Ostigard back and secure a good LWB then we’ve improved.

Throw in someone with the potential match winning ability of Bright (which we didn’t have last year), a few more permanent signings, plus one or two exciting loans, and a fit again Dabo and Rose, and it’s a solid squad.

A lot will depend on our year on year development too. How much will our core young squad have improved for their year experience in the Championship. How much of our end of season form was due to the loanees and how much was down to real strikers and the squad adapting? We have 4 real strikers now and as Robins chose to sort that early it suggests it was the key for him. We are 3 good loans away from being in at least as good a position as we finished the season in.

No, but it’s definitely gone backwards significantly.

Not quite at the level the Gilmour interest wavered to, but something has caused a pretty big road bump - and it’s not all about money.
Is it the fact he wouldn’t be guaranteed first team football? Whilst I’d like Patterson, it wouldn’t bother me if he didn’t come.

No way he plays ahead of O’Hare

We’re significantly weaker in what was our weakest area last season. Gambling on Rose, Dabo and Moore to step up to a new level they haven’t performed at yet and Fadz to carry on another season to have any quality in defence at all.

Agree. Hyam was largely poor to average as well. At a minimum I think we need 2 new CBs to slot in either side of Fadz (replace fadz next summer). Still need a LWB.

been described as a major coup here, couldn’t get in our team or the Rotherham team at times, suggests there might not be a great deal out there in terms of left backs available for loan.
He'll be signed for his crossing ability, watch out for many long diagonal balls into Kieffer Moore

I know that has been discussed. I know that was also part of the reason the Collins one didn’t happen.
Didn’t know that. I like that we don’t give assurances. There’s probably the intention but if you don’t perform you’re out.

For me it’s time vs finance thing for the club. No point in paying big wages for Patterson and have him in and out the side. Would I have him? Yes - but not if he eats up a lot of the budget

Do you know something then do you? Shame as I would have loved to have seen him in a cov shirt. Rated him when he played against us both at Walsall and Bristol
