24/25 Set up (2 Viewers)

How do people think we will set up this coming season? Tough considering the attacking options being brought into the club. Haji and EMC is an interesting one as you would imagine they would both be pushing hard to start (looking at EMC’s ability) and it keeps being alluded to the fact that Wright was brought in to play centrally. I get the feeling that to be at our strongest it would be by having both in the side. Could Robins go 2 up?

Ya 4231

Looking forward to seeing wright and saka rub teams ragged and then get replaced by emc and perhaps Raphael or camera to take the piss further!

I liked us playing 4-3-3 but I assume Robins will stick with the 4-2-3-1. I’d also like to see us try 4-4-2 once in a while, keep the opposition guessing rather than us being predictable, if so then I’d personally go with:

Wright, Simms
EMC, Torp, Sheaf, Sakamoto
Bidwell, Binks, Thomas, Van Ewijk
New GK

MR has always been a keep it at 0-0 away sort of boss then score in the second half. When he has had the personnel, he has liked to change the strikers on about 60 mins.
With our current squad, looks like we will attack more. If Simms and Hadji Wright can score 40 goals with Tatsu and the rest chipping in, we will be there or there abouts.

I think it will depend on the opposition, whether we are at home or away and who is fit.

Would like to see that tbf, we don’t score enough goals. We’ve got to put teams under pressure more and make rivals fear us, rather than be in situations where we’re clinging onto a 1 goal lead only to get done late on.

this shows though that we’re still pretty short in the way of quality back up off the bench

Kitching, Rudoni

then maybe Eccles, Lati, Palmer, JDS as first teamers last season

and then…..?

So you’d start two signings that haven’t played a single minute for us over some of our best attackers from last season? Interesting.

As for the defence, I think Binks is currently better than Kitching but there’s really not much in it, not arsed who plays defence, all much of a muchness imo.

Seriously if you don't know by now he doesn't rate Eccles you can't have read any of his previous posts.

It’s not that I don’t rate him (I’ve consistently said that I think we should keep him and he’s a great player to have in the squad), it’s just that I think with Sheaf and Eccles you have 2 players that perform a similar role whereas I think Torp is someone that likes to look up and try that ambitious pass from time to time.

Eccles and Torp have different qualities, neither are outstanding but they’re both great players to have.

Bar Rodrigues (who we don’t really know anything about yet) I think those suggestions show lacking in depth we are. None of them are impactful on a regular basis, glimpses but no consistency.
I kinda agree but also think it shows how are levels of expectation have increased. Allen was a solid first teamer a couple of years ago and an integral part of a team that got us to the playoff final.
As an aside, Tavares has impressed me of late, and I was not a fan.

Yeah I know what you mean, it feels like expectations have increased but tbh I think they need to if we’re to get into the prem. I personally don’t think using the same old players like Kelly, Godden, Allen etc will get us into the prem, they’re just not good enough at this level anymore.

I agree. definitely if they were starting all the time. Although Kelly and Godden are/will be gone, Allen as a squad player, I don’t really mind.

I've got a feeling EMC might play as a 10. I doubt we would be spending 4.5 million on a back up to Wright, or we would be benching Wright. If EMC is going to play on the left we must be playing 2 up top.

Hoping we’ve got a couple in, I think we’ll stick with 4231, but would like to see us go 433 like other says.
GK
MvE Thomas Binks Bidwell
Sheaf CM
Saka Rudoni Wright
Simms

S: Collins, CB, Lats, Dasilva, Eccles, Torp, Palmer, EMC, ST

Id like to see us try

Sheaf Torp CM
Saka Simms Wright

as well.

Obviously depends on the squad changes yet to come, but likely a 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3. Though I think we could also have 4-4-2 in short bursts just to change things up and mess with opposition set-ups.

why play a lw out of position

both him and wright will get plenty of game time

I think he'll deploy the same trick he used in the League 1 title winning side, but with a different formation:

Keep it tight for an hour with Shipley and Westbrooke at the top of the box. And then bring on O'Hare and Allen after 60 minutes. The influx of energy was too much for most teams.

I think he'll do the same this season, but with the wingers instead of the box. Rotating them and keeping them fresh, so we can keep that intensity against teams for 90 minutes.

Why Not 4 1 3 2 when attacking and 4 2 3 1 when defending?

Wright Simms

EMC Rudoni Sakka

Sheaf

Bidwell Binks Thomas MvE

New Keeper
