Unusually wet .. just think we are a couple off being a top side in this league and just desperately want us to do the business needed as im sure robins does .. we probably will do something

But I can't imagine everybody will be pleased if we don't sign anybody

You can see it coming though. Seems like constant switching of targets recently and none of them coming off.

My guess is a couple at least are lined up. We have the rumours which might be correct but then as we have seen different names can turn up.
Was at the U/21 game Tuesday Robins was there and a youngish tall athletic looking chap stood talking with him the first half, could have been a player but then again could have been his chauffeur, all very intriguing.
It’s a case of sitting back and see what happens and talk about after Friday.

Unfortunately we bought in the wrong strikers and adding a decent central defender and decent attacking midfielder aren't going to make us 'a top side in this league'. We will have a mid table side until that's resolved.

My worry is we settle on final day for some signings that might be good or are decent but not quite what robins was after

But let's be positive. We may be minutes away from clinching a top target too

Let’s just not panic buy for the sake of looking big in this transfer market. I personally would leave it if these players are just gap fillers until January. That gives us 4 months to take our time and get the right players for the long term .

Wrong strikers?

FFS....

Got to be honest. I’m not there yet and willing to give lots of time. But I’ve been worried about the strikers since we bought them. Both have excellent goal scoring records wherever they’ve been though so willing to hold my tongue until the end of the season.

Darn it, if only we'd bought the right strikers. It's not like proven top level strikers are hard to find or particularly expensive.

We should ditch Simms and Wright straight away and use the money to buy Harry Kane or someone like that. Like Gyokeres, if you're not on fire immediately you're clearly never going to improve - lucky we got shot of him really.

Weird choices... I'm raging!

Well, if my top is not delivered in that time I'm setting fire to the new club shop & broken down lorr... oh it's about transfers!

Gone a bit quiet hasn't it... we're about 3 light.

We need goal scoring midfielders. We needed that before Hamer even left. To be in this position is a bit frustrating and I think the goodwill after reinvesting the Gyökeres money will start running out if we don't see something similar happen with some of the Hamer money. It's been a flat few weeks.

Obviously there's still some hours left so let's reserve judgment until the window is actually closed, but I really hope we can bring a couple of midfielders in.

For £10m+ I think we could have done better.
I mean Robins doesn't even play them a full game or play them together and Godden is the lead striker.
You can already see there is a problem.

To devils avocado a bit: Players take a while to understand how Robins wants them to play and it’s not unusual for him to start existing players for a bit while they learn. Robins has said himself he likes Godden on the pitch to help the others know how to play.

Who is constantly switching targets, the club, journalists or the fans?

The club. We’ve gone Kitching > Brekalo > Kitching and Styles > Euro CM > O’Brien > Someone domestic in a matter of a week or so.

You can say we don’t know anything blah blah blah, but you can read between the lines when various sources are saying things.

Everything suggests Gus leaving has put a bit of a cat among the pigeons and we haven’t got a solid lead on a replacement or a final CB.

That’s fine, I’d rather wait and get the right players, but that’s what it feels like.

Of course you're not there yet - they've not scored a hat full after what, 4 or so games?

We're largely a new team compared to last season. We've taken out 30 goals and 20 assists. That's a big gap to fill and the chances of a new team coming together and spanking everyone after 4 games are slim. We've done ok.

Simms has done it at this level before. Haji is an international striker. To say we could've done better (not your comment, I know), is laughable. It's like it's simple to go out and get who you want for how much you want.

I'm pretty confident in leaving things to the team who got Gyo scoring, rather than shitting the bed after a few games when both strikers have one goal between them.

Do I want them scoring sooner - yes. Do I think 'some' are over-reacting - yes. But nothing new there to be fair...

Styles was said to be wide of the mark? Anyway there is putting feelers out and serious intent. Any club will be working on a main target and a back up at any given time.

You have put forward a number of names but realistically it is:

Kitching, Brekalo CD
O'Brien, Euro target, Styles (?) CM

Considering Robins ideally wanted 3 in I don't see a vast amount of chopping and changing there? Just the fact they want a CD and a CM as priorities.

Agree with the sentiment. We have no idea if we'll ever see this amount of cash again so it needs spending wisely. That said, if it's not spent now, I suspect it will be held back until next summer rather than January, unless we're really pushing for top 6. January is always hard to recruit in, players under contract, teams unwilling to let them leave mid-season unless you pay over the top prices.

Wrong strikers is a pretty embarrassing take... Let's judge at the end of the season eh.
It's a opinion. The guy said we are 2 transfer players off being a top side and I dont think we are with our strike force.
Godden is the first striker on the team sheet should tell you something.

Im not too bothered about them scoring yet. More what I’ve seen from them as footballers so far. Basic stuff that you’d expect players commanding their fees to be able to do: trap a ball, move to space, pass ten yards, hold a man off. I know we were spoiled by Vik and Gus but the drop off in technical ability is frankly scary.

I think there’s a decent argument someone like Yates or Piero and a gamble from the lower leagues might have been a more prudent shout.

We're going to have a list of potential signings but at this end of the transfer window, with the season already underway, everyone knowing we've had a lot of income, the team we're signing from knowing they also need to replace the player they've lost, then teams will be trying to pull our pants down over fees. I'd be surprised if we managed to complete any permanents now without vastly overpaying. Nothing in, or loans only, would be my prediction.

Hamer went 3 weeks ago, it just seems very clear that we didn’t plan for his departure in the way we did for Gyo.

This is all pure speculation based off the postings of one person on here who doesn’t even get that much right.

We have zero idea whether we’ve actually been switching targets or not.

No it’s Andy Turner and foreign journos as well. Sorry I don’t buy this “the only things we know are what’s on CCFC.co.uk” stuff TBH.
