Not concise enough to register :)
Taking to many touches and passing not crisp enough or right tempo to work
Players static and closed down when receiving the ball
IE;No fluidity

This 3-5-2, 4-4-2 in my opinion its a load of bollocks,,, as in any giving time your shape will change with or without the ball... System's are designed to give players an idea of structure in a team and hope they express themselves during the game..I keep hearing system's are be be all and end all, they are not,,,,every coach will change a formation or replace a player who may have an effect on the outcome, which is what coaching game days is about...

Shape is more important than a starting formation.

The shape a team holds is the formation, it may take on different forms throughout a game (A more defensive/attacking 5-3-2). However the formation is key as the positions set out our where the players will find themselves playing 90% of the time. In our case we find ourselves with eight men in defensive areas most of the time, with two isolated strikers up front.

Next game you watch on TV don't look at the team sheet don't listen to commentary just watch and see if you can guess a teams so called Formation at any given time.... That will tell you your putting to much on Formation in my opinion they are starting position used to coach, used by coaches to help players understand where and where not's to be during a game,, it should never be used as an area that you never leave.. Players and coaches win game by the decisions they make, not what formation they start in..

We are not a great squad, we don't have lots of quality and we concede to many goals which now without the Wilson's and Clarke's SP has worked out that playing 8 men in an area of where the ball is (Flooding Area's) might be the better way to go with the squad he has....He will not be shouting formation in training he will be shouting Shape, like every other manager in the country during training and games...

Reckon I'd be able to tbh, we have a squad good enough to make the playoffs. Our attacking players aren't being allowed the chance to create by being played in far too deep positions, with a huge gap between the strikers and the rest of the team. Formation is shape...

I think it could work if implemented correctly, I think we are definitely better in defence so you could argue that the change has worked.

We need proper wing backs, Clarke isn't positive enough and can't beat a man. Haynes has done well but will burn out and go through a dip, Pugh again doesn't have the pace to beat a man and does he have the stamina to get up and down the left flank?

In midfield I don't think we have the right blend, Fleck is a good player and should start. O'Brien shows quality touches and makes some good off the ball runs. I think we need a third player that can carry the ball at their feet and can break into the space between the opposition midfield and defence, Baker and Moussa did it well coming off the flanks last season cutting inside but no one in this current team does it. Interested to see Coulibaly get a chance as he could possibly do this.

Again at striker I don't think the blend is right to me, Mcquoid and Tudgay looked similar players. Both comfortable on the ball and bringing others into play, neither seemed to get into goalscoring positions or wanted to run in behind.

LJ it's just an opinion that we differ on, it's the way i see the game,, i don't think we are a great squad i think SP is going to bring in a few more and it might changed about how we go forward..

As for formation is shape, that's in your opinion, i would never coach that way or ever try to ,, formation is a starting position for me that's all..

I think we have some good players but the squad is unbalanced imo

Screw the shape/formation give everyone but 2 CBs and goalie a free roll in their 2/3`s

Chief Commentator!
formations are all about how you shape up when you're not in possesion

Pressley kept on about this last season. Our of possession tactics and what we do. Didn't help much mind as we still ended up in a minus goal difference even after all the goals we scored!

i don't like this seasons formation. But I also cannot see it changing anytime soon.

For me the only thing you can be sure of with formations is they all add up to 10.

I think the jury's out on this one .....I am a bit of a traditionalist so like us playing 4-4-2. However think we should still give it a chance.....we have only lost 1 out of 4 in the league and have had a tough opening.

I am willing to give it ten games or so and see where we are at before we change it up!

Well of course that is the main thing Lets all sing together......think we can all agree with this statement....I hope! :claping hands:

From what I've seen, the 5-3-2 doesn't work. At MK, we had no width and there was no support for the midfielders when they needed it. The 4-4-2 worked fine when we used Pressley's old system of keeping the ball on the ground. Towards the end of last season, when Leon left and all these shitty loan players came in, we just started playing hoof-ball again, which never worked, always gave the ball away and pissed me right off. All we need to do is keep the 4-4-2 and revert to the passing game. Simples
