The big issue is that the PL games will almost certainly have to be played at neutral venues and everyone involved will need to be continually testedIts going to be interesting thats for sure. If govt allows footy bsck with testing etc i guess personal issue over safety are no longer enough
Sure you can refuse to play and be sacked. But you prob wont win a legal case if you appeal
Haha so they want to complete the season but scrap relegation? What a farce! It will cost a fortune and even so the clubs near the bottom are threatening to torpedo it unless there is no relegation
If it was cov in that position we wpuld say same no?Haha so they want to complete the season but scrap relegation? What a farce!
From a players perspective why will it be safer to play in August?
FACT*Travesty it will be I'm afraid. There is absolutely not a chance in hell that EFL will award either promotion or relegation based on either current positions or PPG. Everybody (those that can survive financially) will be restarting in the same division they started this season in. God only knows when football (or any sport) will resume.
The PL, on the other hand as we know, is an entirely different animal.
If that happened as you say I’m certain this season would just continue on the date set, get completed a couple of weeks grace and then new season would commence probably some time in October.I predict Boris will make an announcement in the next week saying no sport of any kind until (say) 1st September
That will keep it simple and the PL and EFL will then have to decide if they void the season, promote and relegate under PPG rules or promote but don't relegate.
It goes without saying, at some point the authorities (government and sporting) will have to make a decision - That doesn't necessarily mean it will be the 'correct' one.I do think that to void a season entirely would be so wrong.
Clubs, fans and so many others involved have spent their money and want their pound of flesh in return.
I can’t see them cancelling it. For every dramatic story by one person In sky sports saying it should be cancelled due to Simple self gain I bet there are more than 90% in the lower leagues saying we should play.I do think that to void a season entirely would be so wrong.

Just been said on radio 5 Germany have re-started training in the last couple of weeks three Cologne players have gone down with Coronavirus, not serious apparently but bound to have an influence any decision the Bungasliga make. The premier league season will start again last week in May or first in June I would think. Government/Premier league is just waiting for Germany to start playing again. The Italian players are also back training with a view to finishing their season. EFL keep saying the plan is to finish the season so have to take them at their word until they say otherwise.
The PL have already mentioned if that happens and seem to think it’d all just carry on and they’d treat it like any other injury. I’m not surprised some players aren’t happy about the whole situation and being forced to play.Just been said on radio 5 Germany have re-started training in the last couple of weeks three Cologne players have gone down with Coronavirus, not serious apparently but bound to have an influence any decision the Bungasliga make.

That's not a bad shoutDo you think they should still be paid say £350,000 a week if they don’t play or except the furlough payment only?
They should have the option to not play but get paid less, IMODo you think they should still be paid say £350,000 a week if they don’t play or except the furlough payment only?
They should have the option to not play but get paid less, IMO
That’s a fair point, one is an essential service though but of course it highlights the absurdity of footballers’ pay and status.Chris Sutton discussed this the other day and he said effectively then players should not play until a vaccine? So why are they such precious people when minimum wage supermarket people still work?
Looks like wages may fall. No doubt rise after a few years but nice reality shock nonethelessThat’s a fair point, one is an essential service though but of course it highlights the absurdity of footballers’ pay and status.

Said this the other day after the PL meeting. Why are extra measures being put in place for PL footballers that aren't required for someone working minimum wage in a supermarket or warehouse?Chris Sutton discussed this the other day and he said effectively then players should not play until a vaccine? I would imagine most who are against playing could well have someone high risk at home. That’s the only thing that would put me off, personally. It highlights the fact you take your choice. The reality is a football has a very low chance of death - it’s about as much chance as the Tottenham player who once died from a bolt of lightening when playing golf. Players can choose but one option can’t be to keep getting paid stupid money while isolating in 6 acre gardens. All contracts should be cancelled if they refuse to play. Actors and performers will not be paid without performing
