91 League grounds (1 Viewer)

I've been trying (not that hard) to visit all 92 League grounds to see City play and I know others keep a tally too.

I'm off to Shrews which is new for me but do I count it as my 55/92 or sadly 55/91 given our Exodus?

Which brings me to the more interesting question...who's been to more than 55?

I just had a tally up and I've only done 30 but this includes Highbury, Highfield Road and the Withdean so do old grounds also count in your total?

As grounds are replaced relatively often as do league teams, I wouldn't stick to a rigid 92 as a marker.

I know a bloke that I used to work with that's seen all the League Clubs and all the clubs in the top 3 non-league leagues (if that makes sense), both home and away. He's on a mission to see every professional club in Europe at least once and regularly goes to non-league games at grounds he's never been to. Proper fanatic. Forest fan though.

I think he's been to something like 600 grounds or something ridiculous like that.

Got me thinking about the grounds I'd been to that are no longer there - off the top of my head:

Arsenal
Southampton
Brighton
Derby
Leicester
Shrewsbury
Bolton
Walsall
Chester (I think they moved?)
Stoke
Plus of course, Coventry!

I've just been counting up & I think my tally is 40 following the City & another 9 without....

....Grand total of 49 (including the old grounds of City, leicester, derby, stoke, bolton, man city & arsenal)

Edit: Also withdean & the dell

Also....fratton park about 6 times when I was a student at Portsmouth poly.....I'd forgotten that but it was between 1989-92 and I was off my tits raving in warehouses for most of those 3 years....

ACIIIIIIIIIIIIID !!!! :)

71 for me. I've been to 17 Scottish ones too.

Well, I went to Eastville for speedway not for the football, does that count?

Did you go for football? Saw the Bees there in '79, I think it was or could have been '78. Went to a lot of speedway around that time. Ole! Ole! Ole!
Bugger, left Bristol Rovers off the list

It was the footie.

Lived in Bristol for a few years and saw a few games at Eastville (and Ashton Gate) when I couldn't get to City games.

Remember seeing City play there in a friendly/testimonial just after Bobby Gould (ex Rovers manager) took over at City the first time. As I recall Gouldy played on the left wing in the second half!

Bugger, also left Cardiff, Oxford and Rotherham off the list.

Hadn't realised how many old grounds had gone.....

When I was trying to impress my wife when I first started seeing her I took her to Rotherham an Bradford. She wasn't impressed. ..

I used to go to all City's games, home and away throughout the 70s and early 80s. That included friendlies so went to plenty of lower league grounds.

I've just had a quick count-up and I've been to 78 League grounds. Of these, a staggering 34 are no longer used, are teams no longer in the League, or both.

I've only been to 6 Scottish grounds, but they were all to watch City.

My favourite trip to one of the "old" grounds was the Victoria Ground and something I've mentioned here before. It was a mid-week Full Members' Cup tie and there were 16 (yes one six) fans in our end. On the way back my mate - who'd just passed his test got on the wrong side of the motorway and we were halfway to Manchester before we realised.

My least favourite away ground was the Dell. The corner they used to stick you in was terrible and the pitch was level with your chest so you just saw players legs.

I've been to around 60 but that doesn't include Hereford, Luton, Chester ect that are no longer in the 92. Also I don't include Ninian Park, NHS ect that are gone. It's out of 91. The Ricoh is no longer included either imo.

We were the last team to play at the Victoria ground. A pre season friendly.
The local paper headline was the last person out turn off the lights

This list is not including HR, Ricoh & just teams, so ignores new stadia (such as Saints Dell and St Mary's). *Wimbledon was at Selhurst Park but I did go and watch a hockey match at the National Hockey Stadium when given a free ticket - was very cold and I wished I hadn't.

62 current league grounds, not including the Ricoh. Doesn't include Sixfields either:) Also 18 old grounds and 7 non league ( Sutton Utd!!) and Wembley! Also been to Millennium stadium for Wales v Ireland Rugby international (+ to see U2 - not at same time!) Bit different now from the 70s and 80s when you'd hide your colours to avoid being battered!
