A little bit of straw clutching here but .... (1 Viewer)

A winner tonight in the Southampton v Reading game may just have helped our cause slightly.

Reading, the in-form team of recent weeks won 3-1 to send them to the top of the table. What this does is leave the door slightly open for West Ham to try and grab an automatic promotion place.

West Ham win tomorrow and they will be just 3 points behind Southampton in 2nd.

That will then surely fire them up for their trip to Bristol and there will be no resting on laurels thinking that they have merely secured a play-off place, as was looking likely recently.

Need West Ham to win tomorrow so that they are in a chance with drawing level with Southampton on Tuesday.

West Ham by the way are unbeaten in their last 6 away games so hopefully that bodes well too.

We need all the help we can get and maybe that Reading result last night has done us a favour. Would be great if it is all done and dusted before that Saints game for us anyway.

Yep, I know.

As I said ..... straw clutching.

Got a feeling other teams will help us out but we won't do our bit ourselves. Can see Bristol losing both their next two games but us not taking advantage of the situation.

I'll be shocked if Bristol get anything, but I didn't think they'd get anything at Boro or beat Forest either

I think Bristol's best chance is tomorrow. Brum have all but cemented their play-off berth, being 7 points clear of 7th place, but also being 12 points behind 2nd place and an automatic place out of their reach.

They may not be quite so fired up tomorrow with one eye beginning to be cast on the play-offs.

West Ham on the other hand have a good away record and can catch 2nd. Expect them to give Bristol a much harder game.

Remember the play-offs are seeded though, meaning if the go for third they'd have to play who ever finishes sixth. I still think they'd want to finish as high as they can.

It is a nightmare of permutations.. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it works out ................ somehow.. anyhow..

All permutations are irrelevant if we don't do our bit and get a result tomorrow. Any idea what following we have? I'm not going tomorrow - simply can't afford it but really desperate to have gone.

I've said it for the last 1 monhnand illmsay I again. Last game of the season we will need a point for safety Southampton will need a point for automatic and we play out a draw

Doesn't last nights result just mean that saints will probably now have to beat us?

But I am talking in terms of it not going to the final game against Southampton.

Fact is, if (and for Paxman I will underline that, put it in bold, caps and italics) IF Bristol lost their next two games and we won ours we would be two points clear. a win or draw then against Donny might then make us out of reach of Bristol going into tha very last game.

Think that pretty much every City fan is hoping that it will be sorted one way or another before that Southampton game.

You have no idea how much I hope you are right!!

To my mind, on their day, Burnley are one of the best teams in this division. Guess it is all about which Burnley tunrs up ....... and which City too.

I am not too bad either, Macca.

Had given up on us surviving and come to terms with us being relegated a number of weeks back. When we climbed out of the bottom 3 though briefly, all the hope came back that we maybe could domehow survive.

The Bristol game then knocked all that stuffing and belief back out of me and i now think we will get beaten quite easily today.

My view FWIW is that today is a bonus. The real crunch will be the 2 home games. IF we can get 6 points we have a real chance because I do not believe Bristol will get more than 3/4 between now and the last match. That gives us a real chance.
It will not be over if we lose today UNLESS Bristol win today.

I don't think we will win today - although i hope we do, however I do have a feeling we will get a point which could prove to be important as if our GD stays better than Bristols 7 points may well keep us up.

We still have a lot to do ourselves. Lose tomorrow and it's practically over
If we draw tomorrow (today now) we need 1 win (Doncaster) from the last 3 to have a shout.
if we loose we need two wins (Doncaster and Millwall) from the last 3 - both possible!
:pimp: keep fighting!

:pimp: crunch game is Bristol v Barnsley (on 21/4/12) :pimp:
They are entitled to expect to win that, but if they do we're a bit knackered!
We'd then probably need 47 total to stay up (two wins Doncaster and Millwall + two draws Burnley and Southampton - ouch!) :pimp: mark my words!

If we don't get a point today it will be over for us.

Even if we win 2 more games it won't be enough.

I can see Bristol winning one more game this season at least.

9 points will be enough.

7 points might be enough

6 points won't be enough

The fact is there are no if's or buts about it Otis.....

Our fate is now in others hands regardless of what we do.

We now require Bristol to lose games no If's about it.
