Surely there is a player in there somewhere ?
Liverpool primed for £5m Barton bid
Liverpool are ready to buy Preston’s Northern Ireland international midfield starlet Adam Barton as they build a squad for the future.
The Anfield club have been plotting raids on several youngsters in a bid to return to their old philosophy of grooming top young talent.
North End have been asking for £5million for the 19-year-old, but Liverpool hope to lower the price with add-ons.
funny how mind plays tricks with you,
Cant believe Livingstone only scored 5 goals for us !!
Lee Fowler
Stuart Giddings
David Pipe
Richie Partridge
Steve Livingstone
David Smith
Promising youngsters whose careers just faded away.
Really??
Sure he scored all 4 against Sunderland in League Cup game? Though a bit hazy about that myself now.
Must have got more than 5 for us though??
Steve Livingstone

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Barton dropped.
He has all the ability but as the Preston fans warned us, he is lazy and doesn't track back. Apparently the very case in point at Shrewsbury on Tuesday. We can't afford passengers and this seems to be in his make-up. I really don't think Robins will be as accommodating as Andy Thorn and I think he won't stand for players not pulling their weight.
Don't think this has anything to do with fitness as he was exactly the same at Preston, drifting out of games and failing to track back.
He's a great player to have when you are 4 nil up and coasting, but when you need players to roll up their sleeves and fight to get back into games it would appear that he's not the man.
You also need good footballers, and he is potentially a very good footballer. He has good touch and technique. We don't want a team of cloggers-it's about getting a mix, getting the balance right.
Would you rather have Ginola or Telfer? And back at our level-would you rather have Fleck or Deegan?
Yes of course there are lots of talented footballers who work hard as well. But at our level, talented ones that don't and hard-working ones with no talent are more common. They can still be winners. Look at Taarabt at QPR-one of the laziest but one of the most effective players before he got "found out" in the top flight.
Exactly, Stu.
You simply can't have someone who fails to track back. this is League One not the Premier League.
The bloke needs to work at least a little bit. No-one is asking him to go flying in with tackles and block shots etc. They just want him to stay with his marker and at least enable us to try and keep our shape.
Taarabt had a free role playing off the striker and was head and shoulders above any other player in the league and single handedly won games, and he affected every game in some way.
And he didn't work hard..he was discarded at Spurs-and dropped at times by QPR-because even with all that ability, he was too lazy.
Yes but Barton is nowhere near good enough quality wise to consider himself above doing the hard work as Taarabt was at QPR in the championship. CM is a position where you need to work hard regardless of quality anywayYes of course there are lots of talented footballers who work hard as well.
