What are people’s thoughts?

I sing along with everyone but it feels a bit canned and samey. Obviously better than goal music but it feel like we cheer, then calm down and do that a bit, then sing the scorers chant. All feels a bit forced and needless, just cheer and go straight into a rousing rendition of whatever player chant, no?

How did it start?

It’s been on for ages now, I remember it when we first came down from the PL.

Agree, it creates an awkward transition when singers corner inevitably gets the scorer’s name chant going.

Would rather just launch straight into ole ole ole ole haji wright wright wright or similar.

I don’t mind a set piece but like WLADITT it needs to be ours really and this just makes me think of ITV football coverage.

Late 00s it started when the drum. I like it at home games, but less so at away games.

The goal music at Carrow Rd had me feeling like I’d gone well back in time. It’s bad enough that they don’t leave their sisters alone. The Leicester of the east.

Assuming a chant becomes commonplace….it could be shown on screen just under the highlighted goal or the sponsor. Good things re happening at the City. It would also be ok to put lyrics of commonly sung chants on the scoreboard.

Remember when Robins arrived the first time? He wanted energy around the stadium and binned the after goal blast of The Sky Blue Song in favour of Chelsea Dagger.

That song (the European one) started here in the mid to late 90s and was sung for Huckerby, can't remember if it was an after goal thing

First time i ever heard it was at home to Sheffield Wednesday probably around 97 or early 98, they bought a big following and sang it for most of the first half.

It wasn't long after that we were singing it for Huckerby.

Seems cheesy but I always liked going to games where the announcer gets the crowd to repeat the scorer’s surname. Great fun doing that at a Bologna game a while ago

I was at Bologna vs Fiorentina a few years back, in the curva..... that game is a fairly big derby for them.

I'd been to a number of games that week in the north..... Milan, Atalanta, Verona, etc..... but Bologna felt distinctly different and yes more Mediterranean/Southern Europe influence (despite only being an hour on the fast train from Milan).

The most alarming thing was landing in the curva in the middle of what appeared to be an internal war between the ultra groups.... up there with the most intimidated i've ever felt at a game.

The Napoli one is the goat

Planning on going to watch them at some point this year. Went to the Sicilian derby years ago and it was insane, both in terms of atmosphere within the stadium and violence outside, never seen anything like it.

It was a lot longer ago than that

You can hear the city fans singing it when we beat Woking in 1997:

Skip to 12:50 its just after we scored our second

Were we the first to start singing it then?

I seem to remember it being Sheffield Wednesday. I think they used to have a guy with a trumpet at games. Then the same guy introduced it to England games.

Called it right! Just looked it up on Wikipedia and it was Wednesday.

Pretty impressed with myself for remembering that considering I was only about 11 at the time
